Feverish determination

Sorry I've been among the missing. I've been recovering from one of the worst cases of the flu I've ever experienced and the pneumonia that followed it. Good times!

What does one do when one is so miserable that one can't sleep? Play games, of course! A while ago, I mentioned Jason finding Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 for me at Goodwill. I plugged the ethernet cable back into the PS3 and headed to Hogwarts. All was well, until I got to the point where I was only missing two gold bricks and one unrescued student in peril. I went back and forth, searching everywhere. No joy. I went online and found a walkthrough. Still no joy. Then I discovered I'd been glitched and nothing I did was going to give me those last few things to open up the final bonus level and 100% the game. It was almost a controller-chucking moment. So close, yet so far away. I had two choices at that point: give up with victory just out of reach, or play the whole freaking game over again.

I chose to replay the game. I read up on how to avoid the glitch, and off I went. My fever finally broke about the time I was mopping up the last couple of gold bricks and rescuing the final students in peril. And then I opened up the bonus level, finished that, grabbed the last couple of trophies, and my third platinum trophy finally dinged. Ah, victory is sweet!

It was a really stupid glitch, too. If you did things in a certain order, it glitched and wouldn't give you credit for the student in peril (one gold brick) or the gold brick you got for solving the puzzle.

I hate those glitches.

Gaming is a good way to recuperate from the flu. I got the flu right after my 21st birthday, and used one of my birthday gifts, Xenogears, to recuperate.

For some reason, I got up this morning and wanted to play a Lego game. Nothing too serious or crazy hard, just fun collecting and minor platforming and puzzles. I didn't do it though. I felt I had to get to my rental game first.

That's why I don't try and 100 percent complete a LEGO game because they are so glitchy.

They seem to be getting better, and I notice Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 has gotten a couple of updates, so I'm guessing they may actually be patching the newer games.
