I spent some time in Minecraft before I finally pulled myself away and started Worlfenstien II today. Some details follow.

Minecraft: I found myself holed up in mountains cooking my first food while watching the sunset in multiple worlds. I felt like a hermit or ancient cave dwelling human. I also attempted bulding a Nether Portal as fast as I could. It seemed important to check out the Nether as soon as possible because sometimes the Fortress can't be found and there's no point continuing if I can't find the Fortress and its valuable resources. I didn't find one in two different worlds and stopped in frustration.

Wolfenstein II: I got maybe half way through this game, finishing the Area 52 part. I started on the hardest difficulty and moved it down as I got stuck on certain levels. I ended up on Don't Hurt Me Daddy. Whatever. This game encourages stealth gameplay, especially on harder difficulty, and I am not into that for the most part. I found myself doing it anyway as it makes the levels easier.

I really enjoy exploring in this game. The details in every area are stunning, and there are lots of collectibles to look at and listen to. The dialog is really well written. Just walking up to some characters starts them talking, and sometimes, I just stand there and listen because its always interesting. The game deals with really ugly race issues, and some of those cut scenes I would probably not want to rewarch, as well executed as they were.

Level design is excellent. Every area has a surprising amount of alternate paths, most of which I discovered after a battle.

I also played original Wolfenstein 3D in an arcade cabinet and hooked up to a VR machine to replay levels and get access to the DLC, which I can't wait to play.

Tomorrow I'll try and finish the campaign and decide how much replay I want to do. I'm obsessed with reading every collectible, and I'm sure I'll have more to find.

Well, that's a day.

Fuck, I thought I replied to this. Must have not hit "post". Anyway, I'm gonna get Wolfenstein for the Switch. Really looking forward to it. I played a bit of the first and that was fun too. Goddamn nazis.

Man. Seems like a weird game to play on Switch. Just something I don't associate with Nintendo. The game's graphics are amazing though. I wonder how they'd look on the Switch tablet thingy.
