Tuesday's Notes

I didn't have time to post it but these are the notes from Tuesday.

Minecraft: I spawned into a random seed and luck was with me. A large desert village was within sight and nearby was two pyramids. I gathered my matterials for the Nether Portal, entered, and with more luck. I appeared inside a Fortress. I got the matterials for a brew stand and Eye of Endor and went looking for the Stronghold. I traveled far enough going northeast that I needed to make another map. Then my Eye was spent and I needed another one. So I went looking for Endermen in the Nether. That's when my deeper exploration of the nether realm led me to being attacked by both Wither Skeletons and Blazes, a deadly combination if you don't have a fire resistance potion, which I didn't. I got poisoned by the Wither Skeletons and dowsed with flame on top. I backed up to recover and stepped off the bridge and fell into a lake of lava. That's how it goes sometimes in the Nether. Well, I only lost my diamond pickaxe, which I didn't really need anymore anyway. The rest of my valuable supplies were still in the village and safe. So next time, I think I'll return to this world and try and find that Stronhold and the End Portal that lies within. My quest for battling the End Dragon is looking up.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Things were going fine until I had to battle multiple foes in the mushroom realm (or some similarly named place). This game is really cool when you have the space to target objects and throw them at enemies, or have distance enough to get off a force push or force lighting blast on an enemy, but up close and personal it is trying. I kept trying to pull off a cominbation light saber duel with a force push but the game just wouldn't let me do it. There would always be this pause after a light saber clash that made me push the "b" button for force push three or four times before it would work. By then I would be interupted by another attacker. It got me so frustrated, I rage quit. Fun game, otherwise.

Rayman 3 HD: Rage quit this too over a lady with a shield that I couldn't get my ranged attack around. The game has this interesting mechanic that lets you bend your shot when you lock on to an enemy. I did this with her but she kept blocking it with her shield. But with some luck, I got her but then died in a later part of the level where I was fighting multiple foes on pedestals and the camera was wildly shifting position, making me crazy. I had to face her again and couldn't get a shot on her. I just gave up. To heck with that.

Skyalanders: Imaginators: This is the most gorgeous Skylanders game yet, and most complex too. I started this time with my own created character. Here's a picture of what I made him look like.

You can really customize them a lot. Even the voice, accompanying music and one-liner. It's really great.

The main focus of this game, a thing a few years ago, is loot crates. You get them for a large variety of things you do in the game and they randomly unlock cosmetic character parts and weapons and equipment that give you buffs to your abilities. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Force Unleashed is a good game. The combos get a little funky for me but otherwise enjoyable. I think it may have been one of the first games I played on PSP, and then played it again on the PS3.

Something was strange in trying to string different moves together. I couldn't figure it out but I kept doing things and nothing would happen. I was probably being blocked by an AI enemy or something, but it drove me nuts.

Have you tried the new Rayman 2-D games, like Rayman Legend and Origins?  The controls on those games are super smooth.  Even better than the controls in some of the new Super Mario games!

I didn't play much of the 3-D Rayman games, but I do have a good E3 memory involving Ubisoft.  When they first showed off Rayman 2, they had a stage show where you could get called up on stage in front of a green screen, and look like you were interacting with Rayman in the game.  When I brought the video tape recording of me on stage, it blew my little brothers' minds!  They thought I was really in a video game and asked me all sorts of questions!

In Skylanders Imaginators, I created a character that looked kind of like She-Hulk, and her battle cry was something like, "Hooray for pizza!" and she had retro game sound effects.

I still kind of wish I could get the Crash and Neo Cortex Skylanders, but stores still want 30 bucks for them!  There is a Sensei Skylander that I thought would be cool to buy called Barbella, but I never got it either.

I heard Rayman 2 was an award winning game. Oh and I love Origins and Legend. Sound and graphics are so gorgeous. But those games kick my butt.

Ha ha. That's funny. Blew their tiny minds. Great!

Creating the characters is surprisingly fun.

I got all the adventure packs for Imaginators and payed $30 for each of them. I had such a hard time finding the adventure packs for the previous games years after they released, I didn't want to struggle for these and ponied up the cash. Now I want more of the sensei like Barabarella but I'm not spending big money. I'm hoping I come across some on sale somewhere.

those are definitely cool weapons. I could use some of those when I leave the house.

It'd definitely make people run for cover. Or fall down laughing.
