Disneyland Adventures

I've been busy doing HTML5/CSS/Javascript coding for class but I managed to find some time to play. I downloaded Disneyland Adventures from Game Pass because I liked what little I played on the Kinect version of the game. Now I'm hooked.

Disneyland Adventures was a Kinect game but now is also for controllers, thanks for that. No one wants to wave their arms around for a much content as is in this game. I've discovered it's quite a lot of content.

The game is an exact open world model of the real Disneyland Adventures, or so I'm told. You run around as a kid and talk to the Disney characters and they give you quests to go on. Most of the time it's search for this, take a picture of that, but sometimes you have to enter an attraction and play a two to four part adventure. Those are mostly on-rails shooters, or 3D versions of runner games (skii down a sloap, ride the rapids, ride the rails) or shoot 'em ups, or rhythm games. They are actually pretty good and I've had fun perfecting them.

I've also been running all over the park finding collectables galore. They make you look at almost every piece of scenery in the game, which is cool, because it's very detailed and interesting.

There are also rides which don't do much.

I've finished every adventure from every character in the game. I'm on mop up duty with achievements now. I've got to get all the autographs and pictures. There are also a few attractions not attached to quests I haven't done yet.

I hooked up my SNES and got it working to play the Donkey Kong Country games. All three of them. I'll probably do those next as part of my June '90-'94 retro fest.

I have that game somewhere. I got it for the kids a while back. They maybe played it twice. Skylanders and Infinity stole the rest of the time, lol.

Also, you must be into punishment. Man! coding! I get headaches staring at Wireshark runs looking for issues on the network.

I'm just doing simple stuff and it's already breaking my brain. I can see why people end up with obsessive compulsive disorder. It's almost a requirement when doing code.

Lol, for real. I’m training in the Security side of networking. I took a CEH course and looking at getting the cert after I get my Security plus next month. I never realized how many things can be vulnerable to attack. Laser car washes can be hacked, who knew?

Security is a really good field to be in right now, I believe. I've never been hard core into science and technology, so I might switch up to something closer to graphic arts or desktop publishing. I'm enjoying designing a web page, even though it's a lot of coding. It's not that hard, just tedious.

I reviewed some Kinect games back in the day.  I had to go over to friends' houses to review them because I didn't have a Kinect myself.  There was no room where I had my 360 to use it properly anyway.  Only good Kinect game I played was The Gunstringer.

I need to play that. I have it. Just need to break out the 360 again. I will this year.

I need to learn coding.

No you don't. Every language is getting a coat of user friendly framework to make it much easier. I already feel like I'm doing something old school with HTML5 when most web site creators offer easier to use software. That is, unless you want to be a programmer. Then, go right ahead.

I just want certs to sell myself better, honestly. But I want those skills to transfer to air-conditioned, seated environments.

I'm not really against coding or think it's crazy hard actually. I'm just forced into this 5 week course that is a bit fast. 5 weeks to build a web site with no previous experience that contains all the bells and whistles. It's a bit overwelming for me, but I'm getting it. It's actually a bit fun too. Just wish it was over a normal semester of 14 weeks instead of condensed into 5. Ah!

so this game is basically a Disneyland simulator?  Weird.

Yea. You can just walk around the park and check it out. From what I've been told, it's exactly like the real park. That is, in cartoony style and the attractions are rendered into game levels instead of just rides like in the park. There are a handful of rides though too, just like the real park. It's kind of cool. I've never been to Disneyland, so it's real insteresting to me.

I was there as a child but only have the faintest memories

I went to Disneyland when I was 5. I can't remember much about it.

For some reason I thought you went to the actual Disneyland, LOL. I know there was a Universal Studios game on the Gamecube. You basically did janitorial duties to unlock stuff.

That's some of what you do in Disneyland Adventures too. I watered so many plants, shot so many lights, picked up so many lost items (like trash collecting) and took so many pictures. It remained interesting to me though because it go me to look into every corner of the park. I wonder how weird I would feel going to the real park now. I'd probably have this strange familiarity with every corner of the park.

I applaud your dedication to getting achievements. This game sounds really boring to me lol. I have never been a fan of collectathons.

I was kind of fascinated by the park so I didn't mind being a slave to every character and finding all their stupid stuff. Plus, I have to beat MrGalloway on the achievement leaderboards. We go back and forth for the third spot. I have no chance of beating HaloChief or PhantasyStar77. Those guys rip it up every month.
