All About Small Games

i wasn't up to a major game today like Witcher 3 so I played some short games.

Death Squared: This is a simple puzzle game which gets not so simple after a while. You move these two square robots around each linked to one of your analog sticks. You have to get them both to their respective color coded goals without getting blown up. I got through about 25 levels before my fury blew my top. There's some trial and error in these levels and the longer they get, the more times you have to start over. I don't like starting over. But it was fun for a while and I got it free from Games with Gold. What more can I ask for?

Trivial Pursuit Live: Mark and I mixed it up with a few randoms for a few rounds. I got the achievement I wanted for getting 30 new titles. You get those by hitting various marks in the stats. I answered 100 history questions right and I forget the other one. The unlock pops up in the heat of trivia answering and I often miss it. Did you know there is a festival food fight day in Spain where they use up some ungodly tons of tomatoes?

Abzu: I downloaded like half a dozen short games off of Game Pass and got to this one today. This is by the makers of Flower and is all about underwater ocean exploration. There's not a lot of gameplay here but it's stunning to watch. You look at the fish and the underwater environments, pick up a robot helper, sit on statues, and take rides on fish and mammals. There's some mysterious story on murals in sunken ruins. i know it has to do with a Great White Shark that you are gently pursuing in the game. But I'm not really too interested. I just want to take some rides on a Sea Turtle and a Hammerhead Shark.

And that ends my week of gaming; although, I may get to WarioWare Microgames on GBA this weekend. I pulled out my DSLite and charged it up. I don't have classwork this weekend before and after real work, so I may spend some time with it.

As for retro. Next week will be Dreamcast week. I've got half a dozen games that might get traded if they don't please me.

I don't think I knew about the tomato fights in Spain, but reading that flooded me with images of some movie or cartoon where tomatoes were being thrown at bull fighters. I have no idea if it's an actual movie I'm thinking of, or my brain piecing together random shit.

The festival is comming up on August 15th, next Wednesday. Whoohoo, I'm off to Spain. Ha ha.

I wouldn't mind playing Abzu.

It's, as you say, "chill". You also have some device that you can flash at fish and sometimes they respond and follow you. Maybe it's a flashlight or sonar. Also at the end of an area there is a strange tunnel you go through that takes you to some spirit realm where you unlock the next area. Gets kind of trippy.

Hey Death Squared. I think that went on sale last week for the Switch. I don't know if Trivial Pursuit is available yet on the Switch but it is something I would enjoy on a handheld. I should check on the iPad if there is something similar.
