And the busiest weekend for our state park system is at hand. And this year, it's even busier than usual because our governor decided to make them free for Maine residents. While this seems like a great idea, it's wreaking havoc with us foot soldiers (aka park rangers), because most of our parks have already put half or more of our crews on seasonal layoff, leaving too few rangers to deal with too many park visitors. My little park filled at 10:45 this morning, and it didn't let up until a little after 4:00 this afternoon. There were two of us to deal with it from the time we opened the gates at 9:00 until the closing person came in at 1:00, and one of us had to be in the booth. Michael has blisters and my arches are killing me from walking from one parking lot to the other for hours on end. What does that have to do with gaming you ask? It means I have zero energy left at the end of the day after I have walked the dog, made and eaten dinner, and cleaned up whatever messes the cat has left me, and I hate when my work life interferes with my gaming.
Anyway, I'm about halfway done with the main story in Arkham City. I'm enjoying it a lot. I love how fluid the melee combat is. Wish the climbing and grappling were as smooth. I think I'm just spoiled after playing Rise of the Tomb Raider. My plan is to play hermit on Tuesday and just play Arkham City all day, except for walking Beau at some point.
I also started up Animal Crossing Wild World again. Things were slow in the booth at work last Friday, but not slow enough I could play an RPG or a platformer, and New Leaf was not in the case it was supposed to be in (found it in another game case, and then had to open up all the cases and put games back in the right ones), and I had my DS case with a bunch of games in it. I spent an hour and a half pulling weeds and 20 minutes casing down cockroaches and stepping on them. And I've had to start planting flowers and sending letters to unhappy townscritters so they don't move away. I have a love/hate relationship with Animal Crossing. I love it because it's so much fun, but I hate how addicted to it I can get, and I also hate how I have to play every day or my town goes to hell.
And I did something I rarely do for games other than Dragon Quest games. I preordered Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It should, theoretically, be in my mailbox when I get home from work in twelve days. Not that I'm counting, or anything.

For a second there I thought your description of activities in Animal Crossing was your real life and I wondered at the "townscritters" and who might they be, and why you had to write letters to them to keep them from moving. Ha ha.
Have fun with Tomb Raider. There's something special about playing a game day-one. One day I may get to enjoy that again.

Here's how I play an Animal Crossing game. I play it every day (or nearly every day) for a year. That sounds iike a lot, but I only play for ten to fifteen minutes every day so I can manage that. Then after a year, when you pretty much have done all you can do, I stop playing and never touch it again. But to play a game for a full year, that's pretty good.
There are two Animal Crossing games that you don't have to play every day, and I still enjoyed them somewhat. One was Happy Home Designer on the 3DS. The other is the mobile game Pocket Camp, which I still play. Neither of those you have to play every day.
Right now I'm working on playing three games to review at the GamerDad site, and they're all pretty good. One is called Chiki Chiki Boxy Racers for Switch. It's a top down racer, but turned out better than I thought it would. Next is Battle Chef Brigade Deluxe. It's a combination 2-D hack and slash puzzle game with cooking elements. I wanted to review it on the Switch last year, but I'm glad that didn't happen so I could review the deluxe edition on PS4. And last is The Messenger. It's an 8-bit title styled like Ninja Gaiden, and I've really liked what I've played so far.
What I want is an Animal Crossing game where all you have to do is find things to add to the museum, lol

Does the new Tomb Raider come out so quick? I guess it's fall, a lot of games are coming out.
It does come out so quick. It was completely off my radar until Lina at Game Box Video Games mentioned it to me a couple of weeks ago when I went in to pick up a controller they'd repaired for me.
that's a pretty good store if they repair controllers!
They also repair pretty much every console ever made. It cost me $15 to havr the thumb sticks replaced on a PS4 controller (the cat chewed the rubber off). And they're going to fix my 3DS analog stick, too (rubber fell apart on that, too) for $10.
I went in because neither of my PS4 controllers were charging. Was going to buy a new controller, but Tony, the owner, stopped me and said "you just bought that controller a couple of months ago! (actually, it was over a year ago) Lets try a new charging cable first before you spend the money on a new controller." And lo and behold! It was indeed the charging cable. So I paid $9 with tax instead of whatever the amount for a new controller plus tax woud have been.

You would think that the top folks would know this would be the busy time they would keep more people on staff to help out. I don't blame you for not having any energy to play games.
Arkham City is really good, heck I feel the three Arkham games are a must play. I wasn't a fan of Arkham Origins game on Vita.
I think I am going to wait on the next Tomb Raider. I did that with the previous two. I want to play it but I want to finish up some games I have on my laptop before adding a new one but if its anything like the previous Tomb Raiders, it should be really good.
All of our positions are set at a certain number of weeks, and they can't change that, because the money is already budgeted. And this was spung on us on a Tuesday evening and went into effect the following Saturday. Not a whole lot of time to prepare.
