Only 4 BaD days remain. Can you believe it?

Disgaea 1

I have the original PS2 game, the PSP Afternoon of Darkness version and now the Switch "Complete" iteration. I also own all the other Disgaea games in various forms too.

How many times have I actually played more than an hour of any Disgaea game. 0, that's it 0 times

Yes, you've all heard me bitch about SRPGs because there is no exploration and it's just talking heads followed by battle but Disgaea does let you run around outside of battle. At least that's my impression from what little I've played.

The hour I played was exhausting. An hour isn't even enough time to learn all the moves and nuances of the battlefield.

It starts off plain enough. Pick at team member, move and then either attack or wait. Then it gets into staying together so you and some team mates can all attack at once.

After that you learn about throwing team mates towards enemies to get to them faster. You also learn in this phase that if you throw Prinnies (penguin like minions who call everyone dood) they explode.

Then you learn about terrain and tile colours. You are told that depending on the colour of the terrain enemies or allies more powerful or less powerful and that moving these pyramids can change the colours of the tiles. You also learn that attacking the pyramids and destroying them causes every unit on the field to take damage of some kind and then the tile colours are gone.

I actually finished that part of the tutorial in 1 move, getting rid of all my enemies in one fell swoop.

Then I went back to the castle and they tried to teach me something else, but my brain was full so I quit.

I'm going to try to finish a Disgaea or two this time. I can't keep buying them and not playing them.

Hang on in there, Spring is just around the corner. Unfortunately that corner feels about 1000 miles away.

I always wanted to play that Prinnies spin off game for PSP. I thought it was really funny.
