Forza Doughnuts

It’s a thing you do when waiting for a Forzathon to start in Forza Horizon 4 - that and honk at other players. I was really going for the new achievements which were added recently.

Doing Doughnuts

I started with the one for playing 3 Blueprints. These are player made races that are shared over the net. I raced them and got the achievement - not a problem.

Then I was working on these three achievements at once:

One was for doing 3 Forzathons consecutively. These timed, three event challenges appear every so often and earn you Forzathon points to spend in a special shop. I did three but failed the first one because there were only three players and we ran out of time. Usually these online challenges draw plenty of people. I had no problem with the other two. I guess mid-day is a bad time.

The second one was the weekly and daily challenges. You need 7 daily and 1 weekly. I got the weekly one (which is really 4 challenges) and three daily to add to my previous 2. So, I need one more daily, which hopefully will appear tomorrow. I had a devil of a time with the last part of the weekly challenge. I’m terrible at Street Races, mostly because they have a lot of sudden turns in them. I had to drive a tiny, overpowered Abarth car, and it was a pain to control. I eventually bought a tune that gave me more handling, and then I started to win. I must’ve raced a dozen races to get the two wins I needed though.

The third was for winning all the seasonal championships. These are three championships with three races each that pop up every month. It cycles through Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. We’re on Summer right now, I believe (I don’t pay much attention to details sometimes in games). I was fine on the two offroad championships but had trouble with the street race one. I have one championship win so far. I’ve got time to finish the one I’m on and replay the difficult one.

There are a few other achievements that appeared recently. I haven’t looked closely at them yet, but I try and tackle multiple ones at once if I can. Minecraft just added a new one, and I want to check that out.

I love achievements based on just doing fun stuff in the game, like donuts in the car or taking pictures of special landmarks.

More often than not these days, I get the feeling the achievements are designed to keep me playing as long as possible.

Well, yes. That is exactly how they're designed.

They could be worse though. I think they try and hit the right mark. Some of the worst I've seen have been on some JRPGs. Stuff like, I think it was, Phantasy Star Universe where you have to raise all the character types to level 1000. It would seriously take you hundreds of hours to do that.

Wait, I looked it up. It was Final Fantasy XI.
