Wolfenstein Youngblood

Both Mark and I were playing the game solo today. We were pleased for a while but ultimately got very frustrated and stopped playing. Following are some reasons.

Mainly it was that enemies seem like bullet sponges that sap all your ammo and seem to not have any weaknesses to exploit. These are the heavily armored enemies. Some weapons are supposed to be better against them but it didn't seem to be the case. And strangely, the game doesn't give you a rocket launcher, flame thrower or other weird weapon even though I've seen them in boxes. Just using the four bullet weapons don't seem to cut it. Upgrading them is cool, but also doesn't seem to move the damage bar that much. For me the last straw was having to move down a narrow street and fighting off suicide dogs and two heavily armored foes. There just wasn't enough ammo between yourself and your AI partner to take them down before they overwelmed your position. Even easy difficulty didn't change much.

The most fun I had was charging over the lesser enemies with my battle armor. That made me laugh and feel like a linebacker. I wish this game would let me feel powerful more often. Spending a lot of time unloading on enemies that are barely affected doesn't thrill me.

Ah well, what're going to do. I had borrowed the game anyway, so no money lost there. I'm still curious about playing co-op with a real person though. Mark owns the game, so maybe when the price is right, I'll get a copy to try that out. Maybe it won't suck that way.

ah, that's too bad you're frustrated with it. I played the first game in the modern reboot series. I liked it, but I played it on my laptop and eventually it couldnt handle it and was overheating. I heard the second game though, The New Colossus, was very good.

I loved 1 and 2. My friend showed me that I could upgrade my character in Youngbloods. I was upgrading my weapons but I didn't see how crucial it was to upgrade your character. The game doesn't show this to you. It seems like it happens automatically because when you level up a message comes up saying you've gained perks. I didn't know it was just points I had to allocate to skills. I guess I should've known but usually a game shows you this part of the menu at the beginning. I'll get the game again sometimes and give it another shot.

Thing is though, even with the skill boosts my frien Mark was doing, he still got stuck later on in the game. I'll figure it out. The game's graphics are so amazing. Really great visuals and animations.

I was kind of looking at Youngblood. I have New Colossus on Switch, and I enjoyed it even though I got stuck after a certain point in it.

I need to restart it and upgrade my character properly. I would come across boxes with new weapons in them I couldn't use and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out, I had to upgrade my strength in order to carry them. Man, gunplay is so good in this game. I'll get back it for sure.
