Battle Chasers, Slay the Spire and COD: Black Ops II

I played a lot of Battle Chasers today, then tried out Slay the Spire and then finished up with several fun levels of CODBOps II.

Battle Chasers: This turn-based RPG with some exploration is pretty fun, but I eventually got a bit bored of the incremental improvements and occasional party death to a surprise high power enemy. Luckily there isn't much penalty for a party wipe, just some gold lost and having to restart the dungeon from the beginning. Character designs are really great as are the animations in battle. I got a new character and put him in my 3 member party. He's all magic. I'm also kind of interested in the story and read every scroll I come across. You're trying to find the lost members of the party you had when you were in an airship at the beginning. Along the way you are fighting the forces of some villainous bandit. But, again, I got tired of the old RPG grind. I'll probably return to it sometime.

Slay the Spire: This is a card battle game but instead of battling other cards, you use the cards to give a character orders as he fights foes in a rogue-like dungeon. There's permadeath. You just see how far you can get. Also there are daily challenges where your score goes up on a leaderboard. I played that once. You get a leveled up character and see how far you can get. There are items that give you buffs and potions. You can also upgrade a card at a rest site. That's pretty cool. It's fun. I'll go back to it here and there.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II: This Xbox 360 game is backwards compatible on Xbox One. I like the Treyarch made COD games, which is the Black Ops series. It's a little more arcady and run-and-gun style. The story is good but I'm really in it for the battles and epic destruction. I shot tanks with missiles, shot a RPG from horseback, and carried a wounded soldier through enemy territory. It's fun and a little disturbing because it's based on real battles and such. It reminds me of the pre-modern warfare COD games based on WWII. Mark and I played the heck out of those. I think I got Mark interested in it too. I think he'll get a copy after watching me play.

Well that's a week for me. I brought my Wii-U and Wii and Wii-U games back home with me from the gaming den at Mark's. I may set it up at home if I have time. I certainly didn't have time with my Xbox One and PS4 hooked up at Mark's place.

CoD: Black Ops III is arcadey? Hmm ... Need to play it again. Only rented it and barely played it when I did.

Well, compared to the main COD games, in my opinion. The main COD games are more tactical; you have to hide more. I stood right out in the open on the battlefield in the first area of Black Ops II and picked off enemies coming at me. Now, later on, I had to use some cover, but it wasn't so constant. I could take a few hits and not die.
