Some August Games

Just looked over some stuff coming in the next few weeks. It's beginning, the holiday rush of interesting games.

First is Rad out the 20th directed by the guy at DoubleFine who did Headlander. It's a rogue-like with lots of interesting things that change your character. Seems like you morph into part animal or something like that in this game.

Then there is Bard's Tale IV Director's Cut, a game I knew nothing about until a few minutes ago. Seems a cool turn-based RPG in a very well detailed environment. It was categorized a rogue-like on wiki. I wonder if that's right.

I checked out Control. This reminds me of other games where you had powers to tear the environment appart and throw them at enemies. Seems very cool.

I also checked out Age of Wonders: Planetfall, which is already out. It's a strategy game in a scifi universe. Could be great if I can get my hands on it. I think this series has been around a while on PC and is highly respected. Maybe this is their first console release?

I usually look up the months games at the beginning of the month but I was distracted and forgot. I need to keep up, there's a lot of neat stuff.

Is there a demo for Control? I wonder if that's on PlayStation right now.

Don't know. I find it surprising there are still demos. I have to remember to check for those.

Not really anyting in August I want to get right now.  I have a demo for the upcoming game Oninaki on my PS4, but I haven't played it yet.  But in September, Link's Awakening comes out!  EEEE!

Oninaki makes me think of Pandora's Tower, if you remember that Wii game.

Link's Awakening remake looks pretty nice.

Fire Emblem is keeping me busy. My big game this August is going to be Astral Chain. Love me some Platinum Games.

September is gonna be super loaded for me. Within the span of a few days late in the month, Link's Awakening, Dragon Quest XI S, and Ni no Kuni are all coming out.

I still need to play my DQXI.

I'll be getting Borderlands 3 with my friend Mark in Sept. Then there's Gears 5 which will drop day-one on Game Pass. I also noticed Baldur's Gate I & II.

Oh and Age of Empires in going to be on Game Pass this week. There'll be plenty to dig into.

My initial plan for August was to get the physical release of the Collection of Mana early in the month and then Astral Chain at the end of the month, but I'm not sure if I misread the Mana date or it got pushed back, but that collection doesn't come out till the 27th and Astral Chain is the 30th and I can't do $100 of new games within a couple days of each other, so I'm pushing Astral Chain back till some later time. Plus the preorder for WayForward's River City Girls opens on the 30th on Limited Run games, but at least I have four weeks to order that. (I like physical games, okay??) Too many games! And, to put this in perspective, right now I'm playing Yakuza Kiwami 2, which came out at the end of August last year lol.

Oh man, River City Girls looks cool. WayForward is the best. I like the role reversal too. It's coming to Xbox, so maybe I'll get a chance to play it.

I'd like to play a Mana game sometime. I've always been curious about the series.

I like physical games too. I just need to save money right now. At some point I'm going to build a little library again, the best of the best. I might plan it on paper since I can't do it right now.

I've got Age of Wonders on my Steam wishlist. It looks great.
