X-Cloud 'n' Stuff

X-Cloud is in preview right now and I'm thinking about trying it out, but I have a problem. I took some of my Xmas Skylaners for a spin and I tried several of the latest additions to Xbox Game Pass.

X-Cloud: Turns out I can't do it because I have the controller from the first Xbox One. It doesn't have the right Blue Tooth device in it. So, I'd have to get a new controller, which I'm considering. I want to see how a game might stream on my phone.

Skylanders Imaginators and Trap Team: I took Jingle Bell Chompy Mage and Winterfest Lob-Star for a spin. They're both pretty fun to play in their respective games. I wanted to get an achievement with one of them but I've gotten almost all the achievements in both games. The remaining ones are difficult and will take much leveling. I'll play them here and there until they've unlocked their big special attacks and then see if I can knock off these harder achievements.

My Friend Pedro (on Game Pass): It seems Devolver has a pretty good relationship with Microsoft because I just played their Shadow Warrior 2 on Game Pass. My Friend Pedro is a very different game. It's a bit like Shadow Complex but the object is to pull off very stylish kills with bullet time slowmo. You flip through the air in slow motion and shoot or kick enemies. It's in a 2D space and fairly short levels. I enjoyed it for a little while but eventually the finese needed was too much for my lack of patience. I got several achievements to help me get my daily Rewards points.

Dead Island Definitive Edition (on Game Pass): I tried this long ago but didn't stick with it for whatever reason. This time I was really getting into it. The opening sequences were a bit annoying to me though. They don't tell you the direction to run in one segment. But when the game lets you roam freely it's great. I got my missions and then wandered around the very large resort. I picked up lots of basic melee weapons, money and various components for later crafting. I drank a ton of energy drinks. Apparently 20 somethings at an exotic resort only drink that and alcohol. I also learned that kicking works pretty well for most standard zombies. I became a kick boxing champion, saving my weapons for boss zombies or when I got surrounded. Weapons break fairly easily so it's wise to save them. I'm really enjoying it.

My Friend Pedro hasn't even been out that long and it's already on Game Pass?  Devolver (who I also have a good relationship with), offered me a review copy, but it didn't look like my kind of game so I declined.

Some games get a day-one release on Game Pass. I'm not sure how the money works in those situations but I guess it can make sense for certain games or developers. It wasn't my sort of game either but it was fun in the first half-dozen levels or so.

I'm definitely interested in Xcloud to play Xbox games on my iPad (you can now connect ps4 and xbox controllers to ipad to play games.) Curious to see how it works out.

I'd love to have an iPad someday. Ace Patrol is one I've always wanted to play. I wonder if it's still availlable.
