This list’s games are chosen from IGN’s Top 100 Games of All Time, published in 2019. These fill in some gaps in my now 141 game list.

Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
Super Mario Bros 3
Fallout New Vegas
Ms Pac-Man
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Donkey Kong
Suikoden II
Fable 2
Mega Man 3
Fallout 2
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag

Notes:

I think Link to the Past was the Zelda where you start out unconscious on a shore? I’m sure someone will correct me. But if so, I’ve tried this one a while back. I forget why I stopped, but I’d like to try it again.

I’ve played Super Metroid but never finished it. Maybe now’s the time.

I love the way you choose worlds on the map screen in Super Mario Bros. 3. Now if I could just beat those worlds.

I just dabbled in Fallout New Vegas the other day. It seems great if I could just find that cemetery.

I’ve been meaning to play Suikoden and Suikoden II for so long now. I bought them digitally on PS3 years ago and there they sit ready to play. I think I did try the first game for an hour or two at one time. I’ve got to do more than that.

Mark and I 100% completed Fable 2 a few years ago; well, all except getting that chicken suit virally. I wouldn’t mind playing it again. Heck, if a Fable 4 is in the works, like I’ve heard rumored, maybe they’ll remaster 2 like they did Fable 1. Then I can get all those achievements all over again. Oh joy.

I need to bash my head against Mega Man 3 again. It’s easily gotten now in various collections, so no excuse not to. Ouch.

I’ve never played Fallout 2. I’m not sure if it’s even available on any console. It’ll be fun reading about it anyway.

Assassin’s Creed IV was the first AC I really wanted to play, mainly for the sailing ships. It’s been criticized, but I still want to play it. I have it digitally on several systems. AC games have been given away and put on sale so frequently, it’s possible I have all of them except Odyssey.

Waking up on the shore is Link's Awakening.

Darn, then maybe I've never played Link to the Past. Gasp!

I won't disagree with anyone that says ALTTP is a GOAT game, but i prefer my LoZs to take place in worlds of desolation. This one was too colorful and populated by NPCs to really speak to me.

Super Metroid is a GOAT. Nuff said

Same with SMB3, still my favorite Mario game.

Hell, same with New Vegas. It's the best mainstream WRPG released in recent times, imo. None of them beat the quest design and all the solutions and outcomes and how different quests across the world intersect in small and big ways

Not a huge Mega Man fan, but I'd pick 3 if I was forced to play one now. Just the sweet spot of classic Mega Man games.

Fallout 2 is the very definition of  PC exclusive. I don't know how they would make the interface and control work on a joypad, but I suppose it's possible.  Yes read a walkthrough that breaks down the quest strings at least. They are insane like New Vegas.

I have some issues with open world games. I often get lost in them and lose the track of the narrative. I finally played Oblvion with a guide, though, and that helped a lot. Maybe I'll do that with New Vegas because I have such a good feeling about that game even though I stopped playing it for now.

Yeah the Zelda game where you wake up on a shoreline is Link's Awakening, my favorite Zelda game.  As you know, the remake on the Switch was my GOTY last year.

Here are the other games on that list that I like:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Super Metroid

Super Mario Bros. 3

Ms. Pac-Man

Donkey Kong

Mega Man 3

I'm kind of excited to try MegaMan again. It's usually too hard, but I like the graphics so much.

Mega Man games have better graphics and sound than Mario games, I think.

Oh I loved the look and music of SMB3. It had that fun of SMB but being able to choose your path made it special. Love Rise of the Tomb Raider. Those reboots are really good.

Yeah, choosing your path. I liked that part.

These are all really obvious, but solid choices. At least, of the ones I've played I think these are solid. Can't go wrong with Super Metroid, ALttP, or SMB3.

Yeah, I'm already getting bored with this list. I've created my own top 40 now instead.
