Rocket League and Gears 5

I went after two Rewards Quests today on Xbox and didn't get either of them even though I fufiled the requirements. Despite that, I had a lot of fun playing both Rocket League and Gears 5

I got back into Rocket League to get 4 wins for the Game Pass rewards quest only to find that, once I'd done it, the quest had expired. Well, I had forgotten how fun Rocket League is. 4v4, 5 minute matches are a blast. Soccer with rocket cars. Seems stupid, but it works incredibly well. I was tempted to keep playing after my 4 wins but I wanted to hit another rewards quest regarding Gears 5.

It finally installed and I got to playing it. All I needed was a new achievement. I got that and more because I got so involved in it, I got all the way through chapter 4 (or was it 5, I forget now). But when I had to stop for the day, the credit for the achievement wasn't given. I'm not sure what's going on but the game is also on free play right now, so maybe that's conflicting with Game Pass rewards, I don't know. I'll see next time if I've gotten the credit.

Gears 5 is pretty excellent, except, I can't get into the story or characters at all. It's not that important I suppose because exploring and combat is so fun. I expecially loved sailing my skiff arounf the frozen wastes and exploding ice under enemies feet so they'd fall in the water. My go to weapons for all Gears games is the Retro Lancer for it's ability to let you bayonette charge enemies and impale them, and the Boltok pistol because it pops skulls like melons. It's basically Dirty Harry's 45 Magnum, "most powerful handgun in the world".

I paused my play to watch Mark start up Doom Eternal. The game has barely any cut scenes or dialog. I wonder if it even has a story. You just see yourself travel from Mars to Earth, heed the pleas for help, and start trashing demons. Occationally some antagonist speaks up to taunt you, but it's basically not stop action from minute one.Mark was enjoying it, and me watching him, but eventually he thought it was difficult even on the lowest setting. I'll probably pick it up eventually, along with Doom 64.

Well, that's another day. Chores in the morning, gaming in the afternoon. It's not a bad routine.

My friend Mark, I found out, was playing on Normal when he was complaining how hard it was. He took it down a notch and then he totally loved it.

I'm excited to try Gears Tactics too. I believe it's going to release on Game Pass, so I'll get to play it.

My brother always plays on the hard level. Sometimes it gives him some grief though. But he's a huge dark souls fan, so there's that.

Harder difficulty is interesting. It makes you come up with new strategies. A lot of the time though, I'm just impatient with it.
