Solitaire II 2 Together 5: Tale Chronicles

Solitaire played with a mandatory five people, couch co-op, with one controller. This series is absurd. Who does this sort of thing? Apparently it's quite popular though. In this fifth installment you use the solitaire gameplay to fight mythological beasts and outwit a complex conversation system in an epic tale of desperate battles, betrayal and deceit. I would've loved it if I didn't need five couches for social distancing. I played the following seven games instead.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection

I'm still trying to beat the Events and Daily Challenges. They usually throw in a Hard difficulty round that I can't beat to ruin it for me, but it's still fun when I have 20 or 30 minutes to spare.

Grandia II

The heat treatment didn't work. The disc is still slightly warped and won't read. I guess I'll give up on this one. I have Grandia III though.

Rayman 2 Revolution

This was a 2000 PS2 game. An upgrade to a slightly earlier version on PSOne, I believe. I liked it until I got lost trying to find a Faery Forest, which they gave me no clue as to its location. I felt I was going around in circles, so I stopped. I keep imagining Rayman as Michel Ansel. I don't know if he thought of Rayman as himself or not.

Farm Together

I'm crushing through as many quests as I can. I finished building my farm house and started on the even bigger house that, I believe, is the final one you can build. I started to run out of tickets to pay my farm hands and so had to return to making music, painting and cooking to get more. Mark is playing his own game and is trying to open up every single available piece of land. He has to make massive amounts of diamonds and so is building a giant forest of money trees that give you diamonds once a year. I built my second arboretum but it's small stuff compared to his gigantic tree farm. I'm really trapped in this game and can't wait to get back to it.

Gears 5

I finally got an achievement for collecting all the extra parts for my robot buddy Jack. I need two more for the Game Pass rewards. I'm continuing the campaign in 90 minute bursts to do so before the month is out. This game looks fantastic. The weather effects are unreal and the detail is astounding.

Bard's Tale The ARPG

I restarted my game to get two achievements for Game Pass rewards points. I did so by befriending a dog and killing 30 chickens. After the chicken massacre, a giant rooster appeared and attacked me. It took a long time to beat it. This game is really fun and humerous. I'll keep it installed for later use.

Valkyria Chronicles 4

I bought this today on a sale, finally. It was $12 for the complete version. I used $5 of rewards money to make it only $7. What a deal! I've been wanting this for so long. Now to find the time outside of other games to play it.

I have ... never actually seen Michael Ansel.

RaymanMichelAnsel

Ha ha. Not exactly the same, but I still imagine Rayman as his alter ego.

I think I had Rayman 2 on Dreamcast.  It was good, but I lost interest in it as well, for some reason.

One year at E3, when Ubisoft was first showing off Rayman 2, they had a stage show with a talking Rayman on a green screen, and he was talking to us live.  He actually called me up on stage to interact with him for a bit, so I looked like I was in the game with him.  They gave me a video tape of me on stage with him, and when I brought it home and showed it to my little brothers, it blew their little minds that I appeared to be in a game with Rayman.  Now if only I could get into Space Channel 5... :)

Oh man! Do you still have that video? I'd love to see it.

I have it still, but it's somewhere in storage.  Plus it's a VHS tape, so even if I had it, I'd have to figure out how to get it to work on a computer, and you know that would take some doing.

They should make a game where I visit a bunch of video game worlds.  What kind of game do you think that would be?

2D platformer? Cary the pixelated hero. Each level is a new game world.

All right, now we need a plot. Who am I rescuing?

Estel Aguirre, super police woman from Streets of Rage 4, has arrested Ulala for breaking curfew and disturbing the peace with loud music. It's your job as Cary to find your way through the city and enter the jail, beat all her agents and then open the cell holding Ulala. There you will have to perform a rhythm game challenge to win her back. You see, you two had a fight at the beginning of the game which led to Ulala getting arrested. So you are partially to blame, so you must dance adequately to make her forgive you. Then you get the true ending. It's almost a surprise boss, you could say at the end there.

Well that's certainly creative!

You know, in real life I'm horrible at dancing.  I'm just not very coordinated or graceful.  But then, part of it has to do with my disability.  Being blind in my left eye affects my balance.  It's why I can't ride a bike iether.

Really the only things I'm good at are writing game reviews, helping out customers at work (I've won awards for it anyway), and I guess I'm good at weightlifting since I"ve upped my game this past year and a half and put on about 15 pounds of muscle.  I'm not super buff or anything but I guess I'm stronger than I look.  A lady at work said I looked REALLY strong the other day, though. :)

But if Ulala was in trouble, I'd eat my spinach, turn into Super Cary, and go save her right away!

Well, maybe you can punch some stuff real fast like the car smashing bits in Streets of Rage to win her back.

Yeah those Streets of Rage characters must have superhuman strength if they're able to utterly destroy oil drums, mailboxes, and even cars with just a few punches!  What did they eat for breakfast that morning?!?

I wish I had money trees that gave me diamonds once a year!

That's too bad about Grandia 2. Frown

Mark has over a thousand of them in his farm right now - money tree forests. He's leveled them up so much that they give three times the diamonds they did at the start.

Yeah, I really wanted to play that one.
