Shadow Score Chronicles: Together

Shadow Score is an old board game made digital and then fused to a romance simulator. It's online, streaming, 5v5, mobile, and asynchronous; use your webcams for added intrigue. I hated it because no one liked me even when I won, and I had to watch all the other randos complete the story paring up with faeries, furrys and fembots. So I played the following three games and watched a tv episode instead.

Okage: Shadow King

I had to listen to my friend talking to his digital gal pal over a headset the whole time, but I managed to focus enough to play my own games. I got to the first city in Ogake after a handful of turn-based battles against ghosts. I talked to everyone there and got stuck. I was told to go to the town hall, but I did and talked to everyone to no effect. I'll try again next time, but it might be a while because I'm switching to PS3 for September's retro plays. Maybe there's a cheap digital copy on PSN I can get?

High Score Episode 4

This one about Sega and their attempt to steal market share from Nintendo. It was also about the Sega Championships where they played Sonic. It was also about Madden and Trip Hawkins. Interesting stuff, but in my annoyance over game-buddy's-wooing-of-online-chick, I cancelled Netflix. So, I guess I won't watch the rest of it. It's not exactly fun watching it alone on game days anyway.

Valkyria Chronicles 4

I completed another mission, possibly the last one I played before in the demo. I noticed a lot of DLC stuff because I got complete version. I'm excited to tweak my tanks, equip my team with better weapons, and level them all up. I only wished I could hear myself think strategy over the two co-op love birds on my left. My "friend" helped her through Farm Together, Borderlands, and Minecraft. Yuk! Co-op is one thing, but running around being a total "helpy helperton" is sickening. I was beginning to get grumpy.

Well, I continued on even though I had no one to make goofy remarks to or say, "hey, look at this". I finally leveled enough to build the Farmers Union, and, oh boy, does that make my rounds easier. I had to consolidate my four houses to make a kind of ticket farm of cooking, composing, and painting to pay them all at once. I'm allowed up to 15 farmhands total. I have 10 right now, which was getting difficult keeping track of. Now I can go right up to 15, no problem, thanks to the Farmers Union where you can pay them with tickets all at once. Unfortunately, it doesn't pay them all evenly, so when I was a little behind, my 10th Farmhand didn't get paid for a while. Once I caught up it was fine though.

After my game session with my buddy being completely busy with his new online friend, I almost gave up gaming. I canceled all my subscriptions, put away my retro consoles, and seriously thought about making gaming a one-afternoon-a-week hobby, if that. . . Well, who am I kidding. I kept thinking about Game Pass on Mobile comming in a few weeks. Plus, this online chick isn't single, and lives in Norway or something, and I can game mostly solo for a while. He's having fun with it anyway. Who am I to mess with that. So I'm back on the wild game waggon.

shadow score sounds pretty Strange and scary.

I think it was Netherlands, actually.

Ha ha. Now that you repeat that, it does sound creepy as heck. I didn't think of the other meanings of "score"; only thought of it in terms of games. Silly me.

I know all too well how it can be when friends get into relationships and don't have time for you anymore. But I hope you don't give up on gaming. I like reading your blogs about it.

The last two episodes of High Score weren't as interesting to me. The fifth episode is about fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, and how that game and NIght Trap spawned the first big video game violence controversy. The last episode is about 3-D gaming, featuring titles like Doom and Star Fox. I'll probably write a blog about the episodes later this month.

Right now, though, I just posted a new review blog and you'd better go read it if you know what's good for you! If you don't read it, I'll send Chun-Li over to your house and she'll eat some spinach and roll you up into a basketball and dribble you around the house! So there! :)

Turns out, my Netflix doesn't expire until the end of the month, so I will likely watch the last two episodes.

And speaking of spinach. Did you know about this game I just came across called Popeye: Rush for Spinach on GBA? I thought it was a funny title.

Yes I have that Popeye game. Namco published it in the US. They published a lot of weird GBA games during its twilight years, like a Gumby game and a Berenstain Bears game.

The one GBA Spyro game to play is called The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. If I remember correctly, it's very good.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is awesome. One of my favorites of the decade. And I understand the third wheel. I've had it done to me and also have been guilty of it myself.

It's number two on my digital list of installed games on Xbox right now, but only because I have them sorted by file size and Gears Tactics is larger. It should be number one.
