Half a Day, Better Than No Day

I had to work today, but I got some gaming in later on. Here's another list, because I just can't play one game.

Farm Together: My regular routine but this time I started reducing my pens of animals, arbors and flower beds to make room for more of different types. I started with an arbitrary limit of 50 of any one category. I was able to free up a lot of space in my current 14 farmhand fields. Quests might take a little bit longer, but I don't really mind. I'd rather do that then have to harvest them all myself all the time. Farmhands are so handy.

PBA Pro Bowling: I couldn't find any current live bowling on youtube, strangely, but I played anyway. I completed round two of a tournament. I wanted to play as Sean Rash (USA) or Francois Lavoie (Canada). They were both available in the pro shop, but I think in career mode, you play as yourself, eventually playing against some of the pros at the end of a tournament. The game is fun. I'm still perfecting my hook, so I'm coming in 3rd a lot. Controls are good, so it's just a matter of timing my stick movements. Choice of ball is important as well. Something I learned. Most pro bowlers use more than one ball: a first throw ball, a second throw ball, and one to handle special situations like splits. Learn something new everyday.

Chess Ultra: Bought this on a sale the other day. I played the tutorial levels just to brush up. I know the rules but I needed to get a handle on the controls. The game looks great, if it matters. I learned the notation system, which I was always not quite clear on. Kd2 is a move, I think. Bxc5 could be the death of a pawn by a bishop. Wicked bishop.

Gears 5 - Hivebusters DLC: I jumped back into Gears 5 for a rewards quest but quickly realized this DLC is campaign DLC and was happy to keep playing it. I'm maybe half way through and will continue tomorrow. You play as one of a team of 3 new players who do special missions breaking up hives. I played as the snarky Irish merc. Gears gameplay is very fun. i'm surprisingly using all my four different weapons routinely. I don't usually do that. I usually stick to one. I must have become suddenly one more level of badass at FPS games.

Oh, that's a day. Soon another.

Remember that bowling movie with Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray? Kingpin. Kind of stupid but also funny.

I'd like to get back into chess. I find it very interesting, but I'm terrible at it.

I still remember the very beginning of Kingpin with the foul-mouthed old lady. I laughed so hard at that and then just chuckled through the rest of the movie.

I'm taking the babiest of baby steps in learning chess. I've heard Chess Ultra is good for beginners.

I can only play one game at a time, it would seem.

I only wish. Every time I use the Wii right now, I kind of think of staying with that level of simplicity. Yeah, I got digital games stored on my Wii too, but they're not like in my face every time I start it up. I can focus nicely on one thing. But then I worry I'm getting behind on my rewards points score for the month and switch to Xbox.

I learned how to play Chess by playing Battle Chess, an old PC game.  I wanted to learn so I could see all the animations of the pieces.  I also learned that I don't like Chess.

What's the deal with no battle chess on current consoles? I remember that game too and it's nowhere to be found. I'd like some kind of adventure chess game too. They did some Mahjong games on PS4 with quests built into it and a story, why not chess?

And I learned that pro bowlers use multiple balls. As a bad casual bowler I go by what color the ball is at the bowling alley, or if really lazy whatever ball is still in the machine that wasn't put away.

I remember just choosing by weight. I never even thought about using more than one ball. Even when I was in a league, no one did that.
