Tuesday, Half Day

Took some time on Tuesday to deliver a game to my friend and then stayed and played some games. Here's what I did.

Marvel's Avengers:

I played this for rewards points and instead of downloading it, I streamed it on my Xbox One. It ran surprisingly well. I expected unbearable slowdown, freezes, disconnects, and low resolution but for the most part, it was free of all of that. Occasionally the resolution would drop but other than that, pretty darn solid. I played it for a good long while and was actually enjoying it. My friend was sold on the game once I was playing as the Hulk and could smash everything in sight. He'll probably buy it sometime. It's on sale right now (probably why it was put as a rewards game in Game Pass).

Evil Genius 2:

I couldn't resize the screen to show all the menu options so I stopped. Why do some games not have frame adjustment in their settings? It looks fun though. You pick a villain and build resources in their lair. I guess then you fend off heroes or go on missions to conquer, I'm not sure. It was a day-one release on Game Pass this week.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer:

Thought I'd look for a firefight mode but there wasn't. So I played the tutorial "Academy" levels. I want to level up a character but I dislike PvP gameplay.

Xeno Crisis:

I went on a streaming binge on Game Pass to see if I could catch up to my friend in achievement points for the month. I needed 400. Xeno Crisis is a twin-stick shooter like Smash TV. It's fun but, of course, hard. It ran like silk on the cloud.

Myst:

This didn't stream too well for some reason so I stopped. I remember a friend of mine and I playing this together way back and trying to solve all the mysteries. It was fun playing it together but I am not a fan of games that try and hide all their secrets through obscure hints.

Jetpac Refuelled:

I just read about this in The Ultimate History of Video Games book I'm reading. An early Rare game given a new shine. It's fun and streamed perfectly. I launched a rocket, then got dead a lot. It gets challenging.

Pikuniku:

pik

A funny game I streamed on Game Pass. Very minimal, but colorful graphics and physics-based gameplay. I guess that means you have very few moves and have to navigate a world full of hidden things. You can jump, crouch and kick, that's about it. I played for a while and then got stuck because I couldn't find a spider's web to help me repair a bridge.

Oh, and I got my 10k points for the month and another $10 in Xbox bucks thanks to bing daily sets and this Tuesday's gaming. I actually broke 10k before I played anything. Those bing quizzes really add up over time.

And I did not make up the achievement gap for the month. My friend won but I got closer. He was up almost a thousand points earlier.

I had Jetpac Refueled a LONG time ago on my Xbox 360.  It was one of the first games I downloaded for it actually.  I played the orignal Jetpac when it was on Donkey Kong 64!

I reviewed PIkuniku a while back:

I played the original Jetpac on Rare Replay first.

I spent some time trying to kick a ball up a ramp and move rocks around to no real effect in Pikuniku.
