Gonna Be A Very Skylanders Christmas

I had to reorganize all my toys-2-life toys in preparation for a move in a few months. Darn, I have a lot of this stuff! I considered chucking it all but I just can't. I have a fascination for the toys-2-life technology and design of the figures.

I got an organizer on casters and loaded it up with Skylanders. I have a separate bag with all the portals and another bag with all the game discs. Here's a pic of the plastic cabinet:

OMG! They filled the entire thing. I was hoping to get the Disney Infinity figures in there too.

While loading up the drawers, I came across my Christmas-themed Skylanders. I kept them out for a display. Why not? Here's a pic of those:

Going left to right: Jolly Bumble Blast, Jingle Bell Chompy Mage, Missile-Tow Dive Clops, and Winterfest Lob-Star. There are two others but they are online characters only (if I remember right). These are all the Xmas variants they made physically.

In addition to Skylanders, I have a box of Disney Infinity figures, Starlink ships and pilots, and the Lego Dimensions pad and warp ring (I forget what it's really called).

I wonder, really, if I'll ever play these games again. I don't have a Xbox One now, so I'd have to play on Xbox 360 or Wii-U. I feel my Wii-U might be the best place for this stuff. Somehow the toys fit the Nintendo image a bit better, but I do like a standard controller, so maybe one day I'll pick up a Xbox One again. I wonder if Xbox Series X will play these games? I'm thinking not.

I wish Activision would release these games again with all the figures playable digitally like what's been done with Starlink. I know they did so with the PC version, but I'd like them on console. I'll have to look in the Xbox store to see if they are even available digitally in any form.

I like those Christmas Skylanders.  It's crazy to think that the toys to life thing was just a fad.  But it sure was a fun one.

I didn't buy any Skylanders, but since I reviewed all the games, I got a lot of them through that.  The toys are really cool, though.  I doubt Activision would re-release the games with the figures digitally like how Skylink did, seeing as how money grubbing they are now.

I got the first Disney Infinity game but I feel like they missed the mark on how toys to life games are supposed to work.

But LEGO Dimensions nailed that aspect on the head and did it right, I feel.  I have a whole bucket full of them since I reviewed a lot of the expanion packs and such.  I love how they implemented other game properties like Portal, Sonic, and Midway classics into it.

I have all the Nintendo amiibo ever released.  Even the ones from Japan only.  I'm very proud of that.

It was a fad but it lasted a good long while, 2011-2016... Okay, that's only 5 years. Lego Dimensions 2015-17. Disney Infinity 2013-16. Starlink in 2018 being the last of them. So, I guess then 2011 to 2018, that's 7 years.

I got into Lego Dimensions for the Midway stuff. I still need to finish the main game though. There are a lot of really tiny pieces for those figures and whatnot.

That's pretty cool. I'd love to see a picture of all those figures together. I have only a handful of amiibo figures. Do they work with Switch games at all?

Oh yeah, amiibo figures work with Switch games.  They still make new amiibo figures, too.  Remember I recently wrote about the ones for Metroid Dread.

Of course, I remember now. I'm excited to try one I have already but maybe I don't have a game for it yet? I'll have to look into it.
