Catching Up: Sudoku

I finally stopped playing Microsoft Solitaire Collection on Android in February. I got all the achievements that were fun to get, so I moved on to another game with Xbox achievements, Microsoft Sudoku. It's free but ad supported. Apparently it's not on Game Pass because that's probably how I got the premium edition of Solitaire. I know I didn't purchase it. Ads are annoying but not a game breaker for me.

I'm not a huge fan of Sudoku, but achievements give me just the nudge I need to play something on my phone. As you can see, there are three types of games: Classic is the standard 9x9 board with 9 3x3 squares; Irregular just takes the 3x3 squares and makes them all sorts of shapes; Ice Breaker freezes some squares which can be broken free by completing a row or collumn. You also have a limited number of moves.

I'm playing the daily challenges right now going for a complete month and an achievement. Three games per day. That's pretty reasonable. If I do well, that's only about 15 minutes total (usually more like 20 though).

I discovered the game will let you make notes in the squares, which is helpful in Ice Breaker where you have limited moves.

Here's how to play the basic game.

I mostly just played Sodoku on the Brain Age games on the DS and 3DS.  They're ok, but I'm not a big fan of math so I didn't get into them much after that.

I wasn't sure I'd like Sudoku for long, but I'm starting to get in the groove with it.

I went through a pretty heavy sudoku phase at one point but haven't done any in awhile. I guess picross is filling that space these days.

Microsoft only had four casual games on Android that I know about so far. You would think they would have more. I've seen more for PC connected to Microsoft but not for Android. I'd play a picross game on my phone if I could get achievements.
