The Game-hoard Grows

This is what I picked up last time I was at Classic Game Junkies. I'm also including an item I saw there but didn't buy.

CGJ

Lots of PSP stuf: Burnout Legends, Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade, and Metal Gear Acid. For PS3: Untold Legends Dark Kingdom. For PS2: Romance of the Three Kingdoms VII. Burnout Legends made me believe that a racing game could be good on a handheld. I played both Untold Legends Diablo-clone games back in '05 or '06 with a friend, the PSP version via it's wifi antenna.  Metal Gear Acid and Romance of the Three Kingdoms VII are games I've always wanted to try.

controller

This crazy Playstation controller was in the case at Game Junkies. The d-pad is on the wrong side, or is made for a left-handed player. It reminds me of those Todd MacFarlane designed Xbox 360 controllers I always wanted but never got. I didn't get this either.

I picked up my preorder for Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot on April 21st. I don't preorder things much anymore, but for this, yes. If Etrian Odyssey Origins had a physical copy, I'd preorder that, but it's only going to be digital, so no way. I may preorder Pikmin 4 out in a few months.

No digital purchases lately 'cause I've been deep into Diablo II: Resurrected with a friend. More on that next blog.

I game hoard more than I should, because it seems like some games become impossible to find physically if you don't pre-order them or order them shortly after release. My most recent acquisitions were Advance Wars and the Switch version of GrimGrimoire OnceMore.

However, I eventually did splurge on something that I'd been waffling on: the Zelda OLED Switch. I mostly play docked (on a OLED TV, no less)  so I kind of waffled on investing in a OLED Switch. My other Switch is a launch-year Switch. But I couldn't resist it. However, I will keep my OG Switch, because not only does it still work just fine, but it was one of the last Christmas presents my dad gave me, and it saw me through a lot of heartbreaking situations over the past three years.

Exactly. I should go for GrimGrimoire OnceMore, but I still have the original and I shouldn't spend much right now.

I love OLED screens! I have the OLED Switch and I want to upgrade my TV to OLED, but I have to save money right now. I usually play docked too, which makes me wonder why I bothered with the OLED, but one of these days I'll play it portable. The old launch PSVita turned me on to OLED.

I don't think that controller is upside down.  I just think that you hold it by the horns, and then the face is upside down.  That way you still use the left d pad with your left hand.

Oh, right. That makes total sense.

Damn, I want Burnout to come back.

That controller is a little too wild to me. I still remember the Evil Dead chainsaw one for GameCube. Also too wild for me.

I've been waiting for a good Burnout since 2005's Burnout Revenge. Legends and Dominator were more like best ofs, and Paradise's open world didn't excite me at all. Races were hard to navigate on the large map and I never tried the Playground area because the races weren't fun. Was Playground like Crash Mode? I'll never know. Burnout Crash in 2011 was some top-down nonsense I didn't even try.

I bet that devilish controller is a literal pain to use. Probably those ridges in the horns are blood gutters as you tear you hands appart. haha (I just learned about blood gutters, the phrase used to describe the channel that runs down the center of a sword).
