Exclusively Switch

I went through the game releases of 2023 on wiki and came up with a list of games I'm interested in for Switch (as if I could get to them all this month . . not). I looked for games exclusive to Switch, but some of these are also on PS4, PC or mobile. As long as they were not on Xbox or something I feel goes with Playstation like GrimGrimoire Once More (and I was strongly interested in playing them) I put them on the list. So here goes in reverse chronological order (the order I'm playing them in):

December:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Dark Prince (or DQM3 as people call it on Reddit): Playing it right now: unlocking new worlds, scouting and sythensizing new monsters.

November:

Super Mario RPG - Almost done but stuck on the six doors challenges.

October:

Wargroove 2 - Plugging away one battle at a time.

September:

Baten Kaitos I + II - I used to have at least one of these on GameCube way back. I don't know why I never played them. They seem really cool rpgs.
Rhapsody Marl Kingdom Chronicles - Something about the look of the battles has me interested. . . maybe the graphics and the 2.5D battle scenes. Reminds me of Vanillaware games a little bit. Here's a trailer:

Rune Factory 3 Special - Played a bit of one of the Rune Factory games on Xbox this year and liked it - farming and RPGing, how perfect.

August:

Taito Milestones 2 - I always love old game collections.
Akiba's Trip Undead and Undressed - Got it on a sale and enjoy it. I need to lower the difficulty though because even "casual" makes battles arduous (difficulties are: Easy, Casual and Gamer. I thought Casual was the lowest but it's more like Normal). I need to get a handle on the battle mechanics first.

July:

This Way Madness Lies - Another cool looking 16bit style, turn-based RPG. I love the crazy monster designs. Take a look:

Pikmin 4 - I played the demo and can't wait to own the game. It is a must-have for me.
Nobunaga's Amibition Awakening - I've always been curious about this series and this one seems to have a little more intuitive menu system. Its a very complex game, but maybe this time the new UI will make navigating it less a chore.
Might & Magic Clash of Heroes Definitive Edition - I loved this when it was a DS game. I played it again on Xbox when it was ported there. I'd love to play it again with the new tweeks on Switch. Why didn't Capy do a sequel. Why?!

June:

Everdream Valley - I'm in the market for a farming sim like the Farm Together game I loved so much on Xbox. This seems like it might be it. Take a look:

Pikmin 1 + 2 - All Pikmin all the time. I have both of these: 1 on Gamecube and 2 on Wii. Why not on Switch too?
Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection - Probably my most desired game for Switch right now but it's $70. That's the first three games, yes, but it's still a lot for one purchase for me. I'm waiting on a sale or several months where I don't have anything else to get. Why wasn't there a physical copy? I'd have preordered it and own it now. It's not a rush though because I own the first three on DS still. Only my 3DS EO games have left the building.

May:

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - I rented it earlier this year and would like to get back to that part I was stuck at. I learned from a coworker how to proceed, so I'm ready now.

April:

Advance Wars 1 + 2 Reboot Camp - I preordered and now own it. I need to spend more time with it. I own all the Advance Wars games on GBA and DS, but it's nice to play the first two on the big screen or on my lovely OLED Switch screen.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster - So want this, but it isn't cheap. I own FFIV on DS and that's about it. I wish Dragon Quest had a collection like this. I'd be that much more interested.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection - Cary's post about this got me interested. "Not a platformer" is all I need to know to get into Mega Man.

March:
February:
January:

Fire Emblem Engage - I had Three Houses but found it overly complex and couldn't stick with it. I really just want the tactical battles and not so much mulling about at the base making friends and whatnot. This seems to be more like that.

Well then. What have you played, or want to play, on Switch this year?

I reviewed Rune Factory 3 Special and Taito Milestones 2:

The only reason why I don't have the FF Pixel Remasters is that it's WAY too expensive.  There's no reason why they need to charge that much for nearly 30 year old games.

I'm excited to run through the Taito games in both collections at some point.

It's too bad sales don't come as frequently on Switch as they do on Xbox. On Xbox I could reliably wait and a sale would pop up. On Switch, I feel like it could never happen.

Fire Emblem Engage was great, I loved it. It's my favorite game of the year other than Tears of the Kingdom and *maybe* SMRPG and Baldur's Gate 3. Also liked Advance Wars a lot. I actually first played a game like that on NES called Desert Commander. It was made by Kemco, as we didn't get Nintendo Wars localized.

Ooo, I'll have to keep my eye out for Desert Commander.

I so wish to play Baldur's Gate 3 and Diablo IV, which my friend is playing right now. As many games as I manage to get to, there are always more I wish I could play.
