Made a list of 2022 games I'm interested in. It's a kind of shopping list. Thought I'd share it.

December:

Dragon Quest Treasures -  Seems cool. Action RPG version of the usual turn-based Dragon Quest. You can capture monsters to help you, hunt for treasures and store them, and do side quests for NPCs. Sound delightful.

November:
October:

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits - Thank you Cary for alerting me to this. I love an arcady fishing game like Sega Bass Fishing of old. A bonus is it has an aquarium to store all my catches.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope - I own this tactical game mash-up of Mario and Rabbids. I can't resist this sort of XCOM style gameplay. Need to play more of it.

September:

Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 3 - Contains La Pucelle: Ragnarok which was called La Pucelle: Tactics on the PS2. I used to own that version and probably played a little bit of it. Also in this collection is Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. This was a PS1 game and then ported to DS. I remember seeing the DS version and being curious about it. It's a tactics game but apparently pretty easy: battles are short and not too complex, the emphasis being on the story and musical cutscenes. Sounds interesting. Both of these have been spruced up and been given some extra goodies.

August:
July:
June:
May:

Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 2 - Contains Makai Kingdom: Reclaimed and Rebound. This was orginally on PS2 as Chronicles of the Sacred Tome and ported to PSP as Phantom Kingdom. It's a spin-off of the Disgaea series and has a similar tactical RPG design. ZHP: Unlosing Ranger vs Darkdeath Evilman (what a name!). It's apparently a bit like a Mystery Dungeon game but also with turn-based battles like Dragon Quest. Cool.

April:

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (Vanillaware) - I may find that I'd rather have this for PS4, but maybe I'll have it on both. It uses RTS gameplay within an elaborate story. I love Vanillaware games. Let's take a look:

March:

Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Played the demo and loved it. Kirby in a 3D environment suits me fine. 2D platforming is a challenge for me.
Dark Deity - Looks to be a take on the Fire Emblem series. As long as it's not mind bogglingly complex, I'll love it.

Triangel Strategy - Rented this from the library earlier this year and liked it even though it seemed very dialog heavy at the beginning. It's a gorgeous looking 16-bit style RPG.

February:

Taito Milestones - I generally love Taito made games and always glom onto any new collections.
Puzzle & Dragons: Switch Edition - I played one of the Puzzle & Dragons games on the 3DS way back. It was somehow different than this. The Switch version is basically like Puzzle Quest with match-3 gameplay. I like that though, so I'd like to dig in.

January:

Dragon Quest Treasures looked kind of interesting.  I just don't have time to play everything out there, you know?

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits is a good one.  It was one of my most played games last year.  Keep in mind that when you catch a fish, it doesn't automatically go to your aquarium.  You get money for catching fish, and you use that money on a giant gashapon machine to get a random fish.  It's one of the problems with the game that I talked about in my blog about it.

I gave the first Mario Rabbids game a try.  Didn't really like it, so I skipped out on the sequel.  I'm not big into strategy games anyway, but one way for me to at least try one is to do something weird like put Mario and Rabbids in the same game!

Kirby and the Forgotten Land was one of the best games of 2022.

Ah, so that's how Ace Angler works. Interesting. I was fishing in Minecraft the other day. I can make my own aquarium but there are only a handful of fish types to collect.
