This is the last week of Switch and, for that matter, all electronic gaming for me but just for January. I'm going to explore gaming in the first generation of consoles, which is to say, no consoles, because I don't have much interest in Pong or the Odyssey. I've got a gaming related puzzle, some origami paper, and several board games I'd like to try. But until then, this is the Switch stuff I did this week, which wasn't that much because I got obsessed with old 1930s serials like Buck Rogers on youtube (watched on Switch). 

First off. I bought a PowerA wired classic controller (no batteries for me) for $20 for the Switch so I could play the mini-games in Everdream Valley better.

It worked like a charm and now those mini-games are easy. I also used it in Minecraft and, except for the reversed button layout - relative to the Xbox controller - which gave me fits, I felt mostly at home with it. The only problem I had was that some games don't support it like the Bravely Default 2 demo I played. 

Unrelated to Switch, I happened across a copy of Ultimate NES Remix for the 3DS for $24 at a Gamestop and grabbed it. 

I'm slowly rebuilding my 3DS collection. 

Maybe I didn't mention it, but I rented Pikmin 4 from the library and played a bunch more after what I did with the demo. I really enjoyed it. I rescued another fellow space traveller and upgraded Oatchi. Eventually I will finish it. 

So that's about it for Switch for now. 

2024 is going to look like this: for the first 9 months I'm going to do a console generation each month. So Gen 1 in Jan (Pong, Odyssey - although, I will do other things since these consoles aren't interesting to me), Gen 2 in Feb. (Atari, ColecoVision, Intellivision, LED handhelds - although, I will likely just stick to Atari and the LED handhelds I have), and etc... . The the last three months after gen 9 I'll just continue with the current gen. I wonder when gen 10 will start? I'm tentatively planning to buy a slim PS5 around that time, but we'll see.
