I went to Classic Game Junkies on Friday and traded a bunch of Atari 2600 games for three Sega Genesis games. While I was there, I heard a rumble and then the whole store started shaking. A little later I learned that there was an earthquake of 4.8 magnatude about 50 miles away in New Jersey. There aren't many earthquakes on the East coast of the U.S.. Last one I remember was in 2011. Anyway, here are the three games and a little info about them.

I chose these in an old school way with no previous internet research. I just chose from a shelf full of games those I thought would be interesting.

TailSpin: A 1992 platform game for up to two players. I always loved the planes in the tv show. I was hoping for flying segments in this but I'm not sure if that's included. Other Disney licenced games of this period are highly thought of, so I thought I'd take a chance on it.

Brutal: Paws of Fury: A 1994 2D fighter. I don't often enjoy 1v1 fighting games but if you put in some good graphics and a little silliness, I'm in. Apparently the learning of special moves was a new inovation with this game but it got some criticism for sluggish controls. I think I'll enjoy it for the graphics. I wonder if there's any kind of story in it. That would be a plus.

King of the Monsters 2: A 1992 arcade game ported to Genesis in 1994 and altered significantly. The orginal is more of a 2D brawler with boss fights. The Genesis version is more of a 2D 1v1 fighter. When I bought it, I was thinking of a game called Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee on OG Xbox I used to play. It was a 3D game where up to 4 monsters could battle it out in a city and destroy everything. This is not quite that but I'll try and squeeze some fun out of it.

I kind of love just picking stuff with no previous knowlege. Whether the games are great or not, I still think it's a fun experience.

I've never been in an earthquake before!

I hear the Genesis version of TaleSpin isn't that great.  But then, I don't think the NES one is either, and that was made by Capcom.  The cartoon is fantastic, though.

The King of the Monsters games are SNK greatness.  The first one is a cleverly disguised wrestling game, but they changed it up for the sequel and it plays more like a cross between a beat 'em up and a one on one fighter.

TaleSpin on Genesis wasn't too good. I tried to get to a flying segment but got annoyed by the platforming and quit. I should watch the TV show again.

SNK! Right. I see the arcade versions of 1 and 2 as part of Arcade Archives series on Switch and the first one on a old collection I think I still have called SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 (I do, I have it on Wii). I kind of wish they were on Xbox though, the easiest way for me to play it.
