Really hope you get a chance to play Arkanoid DS. It got a lot of bad reviews, but I really liked it. My favorite in the series.
One genre you might want to add if you feel like it are point and click adventures. Maybe.

I'm still working out my 2025 plan of going through the console generations month to month. However, I recently started thinking about game genre's, ones I like and one's I'm curious about. So I'm starting to work them into the schedule, featuring a specific genre per generation. Here's what I got so far, subject to change of course.
January - Gen 1 - Brick Breakers: I reserve the right to expand beyond the generation in search of new brick breakers to play. There are a few new ones out right now I'd like to try, plus the variations from the original Breakout like Arkanoid.
February - Gen 2 - Twin-Stick Shooters: Earlier this year I found myself liking Robotron 2084 and Smash TV quite a bit and thought about exploring more games with this mechanic. I wonder if auto-battlers like Vampire Survivors can be considered one even though you don't control the direction of attack. It certainly looks a lot like a twin-stick shooter when you see it.
March - Gen 3 - Platformers: I would go turn-based RPGs since I played Wizardry back in this generation, but I thought I'd explore something different, and a bit of a bugaboo for me, platformers, which certainly came into their own in this gen. I played a platformer on the Apple Macintosh called Dark Castle back then. It's a platform game but you can also throw and shoot at things (sort of proto Metroidvania when I think about it). You get a jetpack in Beyond Dark Castle as well. These two games are not available other than a poor Genesis port of the first game, but that gives me a chance to explore the genre and find something that doesn't make me want to throw my controller.
April - Gen 4 - Brawlers: I got into Golden Axe and Streets of Rage on the Genesis in this gen, so maybe I could O.D. on similar brawlers this month. Or, I could explore RPGs. I'm still deciding.
May - Gen 5 - Action RPGs: I decided on this largely because I loved Gauntlet Legends so much on N64 and Dreamcast. It started me on wanting to play co-op games since I played this with my longtime gaming friend Mark. I could go Combat Racing though because I discovered this genre with Destruction Derby 2 on Playstation this gen. Decisions, decisions.
June/July - Gen 6 - 3D Platformers: I played a ton of FPS games with my friend Mark this gen, so it would be nice to do something different. Starting with Ratchet & Clank, since I haven't finished the first trilogy all the way through. I could dig in deep with these games I've historically shied away from.
Aug/Sept - Gen 7 - Handhelds: Not a genre but I've been neglecting the fairly large collection I have of Nintendo portable games. I would say it was this gen I started getting interested in handhelds with the DS. I ended up trying out the PSP, Vita and 3DS after that, and even venturing back to the GB and GBC I had overlooked.
Oct/Nov - Gen 8 - Toys-2-Life: This is the gen I got into Skylanders and then all the other games with chipped figures and portal periferals. I could do something different though, as I've played all these games pretty thoroughly already. Perhaps I should focus on the Switch or PS4 moreso and any genre's special to those systems like JRPGs. Thinking. . .
Dec - Gen 9 - Indie: It dawned on my that some of my favorite games of recent years have been indie, or smaller, games. Stuff like Tinykin, Journey to the Savage Planet, Bomber Squad, Merge & Blade, Monster Sanctuary, Farm Together and Island Saver have been some of my favorite. I'm sure there are more to explore if I focused on them exclusively. Oh joy!
And that's the tentative plan so far. I have editted it even as I wrote this, so maybe it'll change a bit more before the year ends. What'd ya think? Any ideas?
I'm going to do nothing but brick breakers in January and that one will be high on my list to play.
Oh, man. I love point-and-click adventures for the most part, but I always get stuck somewhere in them and can get through them. And I don't like to cheat those games with walkthroughs. But, it's a good idea that I'll consider. I still want to play Space Quest.
