New Plan Games

My new plan is to roughly follow my reading plan. This month I'm reading from the years 1900-1949. The games just have to be related to the period in some way. So this blog is about my week's plays and some new pickups.
Clicker Heroes - I finally Ascended for the first time. This wipes all your heroes, gives you a new currency to collect and the ability to hire mercenaries. I was happy about this mainly so I could level up my heroes more efficiently this time. But, I just play this while eating lunch or dinner as I only have to pick up my controller every so often for a boss fight or to collect special bonuses.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes - I nearly 100% completed this game but the last two achievements require the mastering of driving and flying challenges, which are hella annoying. I imagine, with the right car or plane selection, the task can be easier, but the traffic in your way and the lousy camera on some running challenges and tricky plane flight, just made me dread the tasks too much. I loved hunting down all the troubled Stan Lee's and had a glorious last moment running through the Hellacarrier as Stan Hulk.
A funny coincidence happened with this game. As I was doing a race, I realized I was driving in a Lego verison of New York City, and a day later I was actually driving in New York City. In the game, the traffic is crazy annoying during races with cars showing up in your path like the devs planned it that way. Well, the real life NYC driving is similarly annoying, maybe moreso. At least in Lego you can crash through a lot of the obstacles.
Physical pickups for about $9 each.
Wings 2: Aces High (SNES)
So WWI is on my list for major events of the early 20thC, and I always loved early aviation, especially the bi and tri planes of WWI. This is all about the single engine prop flyers. (oh, I should mention I'm planning to check out Pilotwings for SNES and N64 again since they are on the Switch subscription service).
Wings of War (Xbox)
Another WWI based air combat game that looks interesting. I also picked up Battlefield 1 (WWI) and Battlefield V (WWII) digitally on a sale on Xbox where they were $2 each.
Backyard Baseball '09 (Wii)
So early baseball is interesting but few games do anything with it because it was before integration of the sport, which makes it contentious. But the players of both white and negro leagues are fascinating to me, and I'd like to try and make some custom teams. The Super Mega Baseball series is a natural choice for modern consoles but the more retro the better. From what I've read, the Backyard Baseball series is very arcade style and usually can be customized in various ways. This also fits another theme I was going to do, arcade style sports games.
Backyard Sports: Sandlot Sluggers (X360)
Same as above but for 360. One of these Backyard baseball games lets you customize the stadium, which would be really fun to do. I'm excited to give this one a whirl.
And that's a week.
