Farmin' Forever

It's amazing to me the difference when you are totally absorbed by a game. Time just flies by and everything else around you just vanishes in importance. I'm not thinking about switching games, or taking a break or anything like that, it's just Farm Together 2 as much as possible.

Farm Together 2: I've logged 40 hours into this so far and haven't even thought about playing anything else. My buddy has played a little bit more because he's retired and I'm still working.

We've visited each other's farms and harvested to earn those "green thumb" points. You can trade those in for whatever resources you may need. I've visited a couple random people's farms as well. You can set permissions for visitors and let them do as much or as little as you want.

The main thing I unlocked this week are Farm Hands. They have expanded what you can do with them from the first game. Now you can tell them to plant things, set permissions, and expand their area of work to 17 blocks up from 13. I had been preparing 13x13 plots up until then and now I'm changing them to 17x17. There are only certain places where there is enough room for that though. My buddy has flattened his farm land via a Landscaping store you can buy in town, but I like to keep mine as it was first generated with hills and valleys. It looks more natural. His looks like one of those factory farms with crops as far as the eye can see. It's likely to be the way to winning those final achievements, but I like the variety.

Just Press Play and Complete in Box purchases:

I took a shopping trip to the furthest reaches of my hometown and got a few things at the two stores mentioned (I'd add videos but youtube is not cooperating with me right now).

Pilotwings Resort (3DS) - Curious about this and am rebuilding my 3DS collection.

Wargames: Defcon 1 (PS1) - An old favorite that somehow left my collection. I remember playing this co-o with my current gaming buddy way back in the 90s. We beat the game too. I still have a vivid memory of making myself a Ben & Jerry's and Dr. Pepper ice cream soda during the final push to win the game.

GTA Vice City (OG Xbox) - My PS2 copy does not work very well, crashing every time it accesses the in-game radio, which is a huge part of the fun for me. This is in the only GTA that really interests me because of the 80s music, music I grew up with. I was glad to get just this game cheap instead of the more pricey Double Pack for Xbox or the Triple Pack digital version online which never gets less that $20. I got this for $10.

The Darkest Dungeon II (Switch) - I'm so mad a lot of indie games don't get physical copies, or if they do, it's some huge collectors edition for $80. I got this for $25. I love this series and wish I could get the first game physical as well.

Xbox 360 Wired Controller - This is a generic brand but for $20 it's just the right price. I got real tired of buying batteries for wireless controllers and now use only wired where I can. The name brand wired 360 controller I've seen for $40 and $30 locally which seemed a bit pricey to me. I pay $25 for my current Xbox Series S wired controller.

And that's a week. The question is, can I last into the endgame events of Farm together 2? The farm gets so huge after a while it's hard to manage. I missed out on the very last achievement in the first game because I just couldn't manage the massive effort to unlock the last few plots. I'm sure my buddy will do it though. He did it last time. I just shake my head and wonder how.
