Picked up some N64 games at a Thrift Shop

Someone had given them 10 N64 cartridges and they were almost all good titles. I picked out Goldeneye, Mario Golf and Body Harvest for resale, got them home and NONE OF THEM WORK!

I even cleaned off the connectors but hardly anything came off on the Q-TIP. I thought that cartridges were fairly bulletproof but I guess not. Most disappointing.

Oops, false alarm. I checked them again 10 minutes ago and they all work. I just have to turn the machine on and off a few times. I'm too impatient.

"Just have to turn the machine on and off a few times..."

ah, retro gaming at its best.  Laughing

Yeah you'd think I'd know better by now. If at first you don't succeed, reset!

I wish I could find some non-sports retro games!

The joys of retro gaming.  I miss all the tricks to get games working.  Blowing on them, licking them (it worked), turning the console upside down, pressing the power and reset buttons at the same time.  Good times.

Well at least they work after all. Kinda reminds me of the work I had to do to get my older brother's NES/games to work, which was just annoying at times. It didn't help that my brother's solution at the time was to just hit the system 'til it worked, but to his credit it was effective most of the time.

Good finds! I used to be able to find some cool stuff at Goodwill, but the new management and resellers have since scooped up stuff real quick. And when I do find some they are overpriced.

I've never played Body Harvest but those other two are great.

Body Harvest is one of the few N64 games I'd like to play which I still haven't. Glad your games worked after all.

I feel you, and glad they work. I thought my N64 was kaput a while back, but I think it was just something weird with the connection between cartridge and console. Work fine now, though.

I've had trouble with my N64 too. Sometimes I have to reinsert the cartridge a couple of times before they want to work. Those cartridges are a lot more resilient than most people would think though.

Not bad. The only N64 title I can find for the cheep are usually sports titles I don't care for. And the titles I do care for they want 15.00 each!
