PC Is Better Than Consoles (prepare for a rant)

For fuck's sake I shouldn't even need to say this, but some people are just fucking ignorant. This isn't opinion, this is objective fact. The initial price point may be too high, and that's fine. And you can try to justify how much you love your console because you made shitty life decisions and can't afford a pc all you fucking want, but it is better.

Let's rage against some comments I've seen recently:

"No, it clearly doesn't have more, it doesn't have the exclusives consoles has, it has some of the games console have."

Ok, so this guy is a moron. Firstly, pc has more games than any other console in the history of ever, because unlike those, this has backwards compatibility all the way back to the fucking 80s. I'm sorry... how many games does that piece of shit that sits next to your tv have?

"It is plagued with many indie games, some of them are average or good."

I'm sorry. Apparently a game being good isn't worth shit. Games these days either have to be fucking phenomenal, or putrid piles of shit. We can't enjoy a game is it has one problem that you perceive. Well, when you die alone because no woman alive gives you the same feeling your mum does when you look at her tits, don't complain to me you misplaced shit stain.

And why are you hating on indies. Aren't they good enough for you? Can you not like a game unless it's photo realistic? Does it need to look real so you can escape reality and forget for one second that you have the IQ of a dead bat, the personality of a post car accident Princess Diana and the looks of Rainn Wilson but fatter and with down syndrome?

"PC "gamers" brags about how awesome their Crysis 1 and BF4 looks on pc and that's about it, it is pretty lame."

I like how you put brackets around gamers. Because people who spend large amounts of money because they are dedicated to this hobby clearly know nothing about it.

So um... glad to see you haven't spoken to a pc gamer since 2007. BF4 isn't even out yet so I have no idea who this imaginary friend you talk to is, but he's clearly a space ninja from the future. PC gaming is about choice. We have the choice to make our games look fantastic. We have the choice to play games that would never get a chance to thrive on a console, and we have the choice to play with a controller, a keyboard and mouse, a joystick, or a fucking fightstick. PC gaming isn't about graphics, and if you took your head out of your arse for five minutes you might know that.

"And don't get me started with WoW, LoL, DOTA etc... "pc gaming", "gamers""

I'm sorry, what? You just implied that people who play LoL and Dota aren't gamers. I'm not even replying to this one.

"I've been building gaming PCs for 20 years around the time the PS3 was released I got to the point where I just couldn't do it anymore. New hardware came out every month or two and although I appreciate game developers constantly pushing the envelope with graphics, there came this point of crushing defeat when I realized that the over-the-top PC that I just built for $1500-$2000 couldn't max out a game released three months later."

Well, at least you were nice. Wrong, but nice. If you spend that much money on a gaming rig, you should be able to max out games for at least a year. If not, you're doing it wrong. And why do you need to constantly have your games maxed out? If you take 5 minutes to fuck around with the graphics you can still have it look amazing and run well. Turning some graphics settings down aren't going to make the game any worse, and if you need to have every game that comes out maxed out, I'm sorry, but you aren't a gamer, you're just someone who likes pretty pictures.

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, keep this in mind. If you have a console, you aren't less of a gamer. Your consoles still allow you to play awesome games at a fraction of the price that we pay initially. However, any other thing you try to argue with us about is wrong. We can play games with a controller. We can plug into our tv. It is cheaper in the long run thanks to sales. And we have better games overall, because we have every game that has ever come out for the pc since the dawn of it's existence. If there are no new games coming out that we like, guess what? We can pop in a game from 1992 and have a look at how gaming has evolved.

So I guess what I'm saying is: Shut up, your opinion is wrong.

I'd have a really good PC if I could afford it, but there's still good justification for someone liking a console more. Like if someone prefers Japanese style of games by far, then a Playstation or Nintendo console is probably a better choice for them than a PC. It's changed a little since then but PC still gets a lot less of those games than consoles. I'd say it's more close to being objectively better than console gamers like to admit, but consoles still have a few edges PC doesn't (though those seem to be less and less common as time goes on).

Once I get an actual career with real disposable income and before I have too many real responsibilities I'll probably get a gaming PC connected to my TV.

Yeah, I understand that. Jrpgs are like consoles main draw for me atm, but I wasn't talking about that. I was more just responding to retards I saw on the internet. I'm thinking of connecting my pc to my tv soon. I already play most games apart from fps and rts with a controller anyway lol.

Yeah, that guy was an idiot and I got it was the main point. It's just when you say any argument other than the price is wrong, well, expect an argument against it.

*Other than price and jrpgs

 Now argue :p

And look, if people come up with proper arguments, I'll respect that. You guys get Persona. That puts consoles up by like 20 points.

Consoles get Nintendo games! And most fighting games. And Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Platinum Games, Sucker Punch, and Suda 51. And a few more I'm probably forgetting.

Can't argue with that. I forget about those sometimes... Ok. But, in terms of exclusives, over all pc still wins :p

I meant in volume. You guys have like... 5 of my favourite games of all time that I can't play!

I started out as a PC gamer back when PCs were referred to as IBM/IBM Clones and Apples, software came on 5.25" floppy discs, and DOS was the main operating system. They've come a long way since then, but I do prefer gaming on my consoles and not having to tweak settings. Let's face it - I am short on time and lazy, making consoles a good choice for me. I don't care that PCs are more powerful and many games have unlimited mods. I just want to shove a disc into my console and start playing.

Yeah. That's fair enough. I'm not saying that's bad. I just meant in terms of capabilities, pc is the best. I love consoles too, but pc will always be best in my eyes.

WHO FUCKING CARES! In the end if the gamer is satisfied with what they have then that's all to it.

This was more in response to some idiots on ign. I was hungover and felt like venting.

The PC is and will always be the best in gaming you get the best resolution you get more versatility with games strategy and sims are bad ass on pcs and you get free patches and mods but like Joaquim said in the end its what you like that matters not what other yahoos think lol!!!

09/05/2013 at 12:07 AM

Yeah. I mean as Casey pointed out, there are games on consoles that I wish to god I could play, but at the ened of the day the pc is a better system.

As I said above, hungover blake wanted to vent.

I grew up with consoles so they will  always be best in my eyes. I have a pc now that runs a good deal of games great but at the end of the day i prefer the console or handheld. I grew up on those systems so there my comfort zone in gaming. I know  how ya feel though with the vent. Well its the other way around for me. Ive run into PC gamers who do nothing but talk shit about consoles. Just got to do your best to ignore the assholes and stick with what ya love.

Yeah that's true. I grew up with consoles though, and I was pretty much like you until two years ago when I bought a gaming pc so I didn't have to take a tv and stuff to college and could have an all purpose machine. Now I just wouldn't go back.

I used to play PC games a lot. I really miss it especially since Steam and GoodOldGames have appeared. One day, I'm going to get back into it.

Do it! Then add me on steam if we aren't friends already. Then game with me!

Personaly my experience with PC gaming has not been all that great. Everything from "oh we're sorry but this game does not work with a controller gonna have use the old mouse and keyboard (and this on games made after the year 2000 is just absured, examples Alice & Fable), or your graphics card;processor;ram;ect, is not compatable with this game". Maybe I'm just lazy and cheap, but I just want to put a bloody game in the damn machine and play it with a fuckin controller and not have to deal with a bunch of fickle bullshit. Yell But thats just MY Opinion.Tongue Out

There is a program called x360ce that will make a controller work on just about every game with control support. Which is every game these days, with some obvious exceptions. Yeah, it used to be like that, but since like 2008 pc gaming has been much easier. Steam and GoG make sure that games will run on most machines.

Just giving you facts though man, if you want to stick to console, that's fine.

The console exclusives argument is the most annoying. Let's face it, most modern console games are made for morons and people with crippled thumbs. PC gamers don't care about that, they want games that require some kind of thought to progress. And most of the PC gamers I come across seem to only care about Japanese console games like Demon's Souls, Dragon's Dogma, vanquish, Valkyria Chronicles, i.e. skill based games and RPGs.

Plus, I don't see Total War, Mount and Blade, STALKER, or Amnesia on console, so the point about exclusives cuts both ways.

Michael117

STALKER, Total War, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Civilization (w/ all features), Gone Home, there's countless games you can't get on console. The most interesting and unique games are by far on the PC, and not just 3 or 4 here and there, but I'm talking mountains of amazing unique games. Especially in the last few years with the rise of indie development again. Fresh and interesting stuff comes out regularly for you to check out anymore, far more often than on PSN and XBLA. The indie experience people get on consoles is a drop in the pan compared to what you get on PC. It's funny how people see great games like Journey, Braid, and Minecraft on consoles and think that's what this whole indie thing means and that's what it's all about, but the actual resurgence and swell has been on PCs and PC gaming consumers have been lapping it up and having their minds blown while console gamers are off in ignorance to all the variety and diversity going on outside their market. There's so many crazy and interesting games out there a single person can't even play them all, especially when sales come along and you can pick up so many.

I still love consoles, I'd like to get all three next gen systems eventually because they all have things I love. But PC gaming is where it's really at, that's where you'll find the largest library of games, the most diversity, and creativity. Some people don't know what they're missing, they're missing a whole lot.

PC gaming is like the Mercedes Benz of the gaming world. It is the system for people who really love gaming and have enough cash to buy one. I have enough cash because SCHOLARSHIPS BITCHES! If we had more JRPGs... well then it'd be damn near perfect.

And the games! Stalker is one of the best games I've ever played. Amnesia is THE scariest game I've ever played. Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines is one of the best rpgs I've ever played. Console nuts don't know what they're missing!

Well, if you know what you're doing, I'm sure since these are all digital programs or have been emulated to be such, you could pretty much get a PC to literally play anything, so I see your point. But as per rangergirl's point, that would take some doing, and doing is not what people pay money to do. Or maybe it wouldn't take much doing at all, butyou would still need a particular skill set to pull it off.

My point is now that I have a laptop that could be used for some gaming (not a gaming laptop, but decent enough specs), FUCK YEAH PC MASTER RACE!

The particular skill you need is spending 2 minutes on google.

Meh, both consoles and PC have pros and cons, and though I do like the big variety with PC, I like both for what they do and I get great experiences on both mediums. But now that i'd seen on one of your replies that this was based on an IGN comment, I will say how much that guy is an arse. Then again, IGN is kind of a shithole anyway.

I do gamer related stuff on both consoles and the pc. I will say when it comes to augmentation, raw power potential, and customization, pcs do have an edge over consoles. However, consoles at times are more convenient and less of a hassle. (Aka,not having to adjust a million settings just for one particular game)

I love both.  So there :-P  I'm also one of those rare odd ducks who likes both PCs and Macs (GASP!!!).  In short: if there's a game I want to play and I have a machine that'll play it, I'm happy :-)
