I, ShieldWolf of Cyrodiil, Guild member of the Dark Brotherhood, became Listener to the Nightmother of the Black Hand. I then rejoined the Fighter's Guild and tried to finish The Desolate Mine mission that had sent me on this dark path.
In that mission, before I took orders from Lucien of the Black Hand, I had killed a Guild member at the entrance of The Desolate Mine thinking he was a goblin. I had been released in disgrace by the Fighter's Guild and in my sleep a hooded figure, Lucien, had come to enlist me in the Dark Brotherhood. I had joined thinking there was no other choice and rose, through many bloody deeds, to the top position of Listener. Now I wanted to return to my original intent of being an Knight, knowing deep down that I would never get over this brutal experience with The Black Hand.
I found the twenty bear skins required and was reenlisted in the Fighter's Guild. A few contracts later, I faced The Desolate Mine mission that sent me to the Dark Brotherhood. I entered soberly this time and handed the two soldiers their weapons only to discover that the third soldier, the one I had killed, hadn't been replaced. He had the key to the rest of the cave, and I couldn't find his body! Then some mysterious magic came over me, and I fell unconscious.
I awoke at the gate of the Imperial Arena and I was Champion. I had a feeling of deja vous but didn't think much of it. I made my way to a Fighter's Guild and begun my work there to become an honorable Knight so I could eventually help the late Emperor Septim close the Oblivion Gates. I did the contracts offered me, and when I came to The Desolate Mine that needed clearing of goblins, I had another feeling of deja vous. I shook it off and finished the mission. It was easy.
That night, back at Cheydinhal, I dreamt I was a member of the Dark Brotherhood and did horrible deeds, even turning on my own Guild members at the order of Lucien! I met the Nightmother herself and became Listener to the Black Hand! I woke up in a cold sweat and thanked my lucky armor I was in the good Fighter's Guild and not in a place of fiendish assassins. I would never turn on my own Guild members, I thought, that's Dark Brotherhood stuff!
