 Holy fuck. Brutal Doom is an ESSENTIAL mod for Doom fans, or even fans of shooters. While a lot of you may look at it and see only added gore, this mod improves so many things that it might as well be a new game.

Sound

 First thing you may notice upon opening up the game is the new sound. Guns sound more impactful, making every shot feel better. The music has been remade. It's still the old tracks, but it's no longer midi. It's a full onslaught of METAL! On the downside, it is now incredibly easy to tell where the songs were stolen from...

Options!

 This mod gives you SO MANY options that it's almost insane. Firstly, you can improve the graphics, making the textures better, adding effects and stuff. You can also choose whether you want 3D monsters or sprites (the sprites still look badass though... I keep them on!) There are a million other options you can play around with as well, so you can change what you like and dislike about the mod.

Gameplay

 This is where the good stuff comes in. Firstly, there are new difficulty levels, which feel fair, add more enemies, change the behaviors of enemies, and so on. If you beat Doom on Max difficulty and still want a challenge, I advise you to try this. Also, the pistol has been replaced with an assault rifle. It doesn't break the experience, it just makes that weapon more viable at later weapons. The best change though, is full mouse aim. No longer do you have to use the keyboard to aim. Just use your mouse! You can aim up, down, left and right, so it's no longer just a horizontal plane of aiming.

 Then there are a bunch of more minor things. Firstly, more gore. I blood goes everywhere. It's on the ceiling, it's on the walls, it drips, and enemies just fall apart. It feels awesome! There's also aim down sites, but you can turn this on and off if you want. They also added Duke Nukem's Boot, because why the fuck not?

 There are many more minor tweaks, like headshots and what not, but in the end, all you need to know is that this is the essential doom experience. It's the best shooter I've played this year and I feel I need to tell you about it.
