God Fucking Dammit, I missed a day. To make up for it, here are four entries instead of the usual two.

8. F.E.A.R.

As a horror title, F.E.A.R. is kind of meh. As an FPS, it's kind of awesome. The firefights are intense, and if you don't use slow motion, they're fast paced and absolutely insane. Everything happens so quickly that every moment is frantic and wrought with tension. Really, it is rare to play a shooter where every encounter is this suspenseful and nerve rattling!

7. Counter Strike: Global Offensive

 '

Demolition mode. That's what it took to get me into Counter Strike. Demolition mode is the faster paced take on the traditional Counter Strike gameplay. Once you die, you're out for the round, but the end of the round is rarely that far away. However, it's still tense. It's still fun. And there's still a weight to every action you take that just isn't present in other multiplayer fps.

6. Timesplitters 2

Like Goldeneye - but better. In every way. In the story, you time travel, fighting everything from zombies, to 1920 gangstas, to aliens and everything in between. Like Goldeneye, the higher the difficulty, the more objectives you have. Unlike Goldeneye, there is a fucking awesome set of challenges and a cool arcade mode, where you have to do everything from smash a certain amount of windows with a brick in a certain amount of time to collecting a certain amount of bananas.

Timesplitters 2 has SO much content it's beyond a joke. You have the story mode which has levels that get longer on harder difficulties. You have arcade modes and challenge modes which require you to get a certain amount of trophies to unlock more of them. And when youve finished all of those, you have a kickass multiplayer mode that introduced awesome modes like infection where people turn into zombies long before halo or call of duty ever did. There are other crazy modes too, and the characters you play as all have advantages and disadvantages. You can be a monkey, who is  fast and short so people have to aim down to shoot, but take very little damage before death. Or you can be a yeti, who is powerful but slow. It's insane, frantic arcadey goodness, and it's a shame that now all we have are shitty, boring shooters like halo.

5. Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem Forever is art. How it took an amazing game and took it to the current genre was simply exquisite in its subtle parody and satire, mixed with a hint of existentialism rarely seen in the -

 Fuck it.

 I can't do this.

You know Duke Nukem 3D is supposed to go here.

 HAIL TO THE KING, BABY!

I'll take Source over GO any day. So many more maps and modes made that game a much better experience IMO. Plus Source had de_dust2 which I'd say is the best FPS map ever. Also Iceworld was so much damned fun for the faster paced stuff, I remember we'd always finish with a few rounds of that when my buds and I would play CS.

Though GO was worth playing just for Arms Race, such a cool idea for a mode.

All of those maps are in GO now. Plus all of the modes are there too, you just have to go through the servers instead.

Demolition is the main reson I love CS:GO though.

I played Timesplitters 2 on Gamecube and enjoyed it. I agree with needing more arcadey and fun FPS games like it.

I had all the Timesplitters games on various platforms. Mostly played by my son but I thought they were pretty cool.

I loved Time sPlitters 2.  I had so much fun with that game and it kind of came out of nowhere for me.  Loved it.

I bought TimeSplitters 2 on GC at a thrift store. Still haven't played it. But I love arcade shooters and Future Perfect. I miss the genre of arcade shooters.

.... I'll let that Halo comment pass for this time.

My only experience with Timesplitters was a demo of the third game.

Time Splitters is one of those games I wish I would have bought, and now I can't find it.

DUKE NUKEM FOREVER! I own a copy and we'll leave it at that.

Bahaha. Duke Nukem isn't as bad as everyone says. There's like... one bit I actually really enjoyed? The rest of what I played sucked though.

Duke Nukem 3D was probably the 3rd fps I ever played and 2nd I owned.  I really enjoyed that game.

Duke Nukem 3D was that game I wasn't allowed to play so I had to go to a friends place to play. If you want to play it today, you should downloaad duke plus. It gives the game better graphics, better sound and better controls. It's a must for Duke Nukem fans.

I didn't know about a Duke Nukem 3D Plus game.  I'll check it out.

You have to have Duke 3D on your pc, then you just download it and install. It's a much better way to play.

Never played the single player of Timesplitters 2. The first Timesplitters had an annoying single player campagin, but if 2 is more like Goldeneye, I'm sorry I didn't check it out.

The first level of Timesplitters 2 is set at a dam. Yeah, the Goldeneye influences are there and strong, seeing as it's some of the goldeneye devs making it.

I'm curious to see the rest of your list if Duke 3D is this high. Have you played the N64 version of Goldeneye lately? Ugh. Time has not been kind to that game.

That's why I say Timesplitters is better. Honestly, the worst thing about Goldeneye is the controls.... N64 controller just didn't work well with fps.

I remember Timesplitters 2. That was a great one. Co-op play was what attracted me to it.
