So my son picked up Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Defiance and Blood Omen 2 from Steam, all for $7.99.

While Soul Reaver is one of my all time favs the PC version does not support the 360 Gamepad, there's no mouse support and the keyboard control is frikkin' awful!

Soul Reaver 2 works quite well with the Microsoft controller so far but some customization of the buttons was required.

I haven't downloaded the other two yet.

In other gaming I picked up Okami HD and the first Suikoden on PSN. I love the art style of Okami and wound up playing a bit yesterday.

I also contemplated Batman Origins for $10 from Steam but I talked myself out of it.

I was sold from the word go on both City and Origins. Too bad about Soul Reaver. I'd look into those, but I don't usually buy things with no controller support, unless I feel like they justify it some other way, and by your description, it ain't happenin'.

Soul Reaver is well worth looking into but unfortunately not on the PC. The best version is the Dreamcast version but that is not easy to come by.

Yeah, I'd love a Dreamcast. Actually, I kind of want a Nintoaster for NES and SNES cartridges, a Genesis, and a Dreamcast that is BC with Saturn titles. I'd also like a PS4 that is BC like the initial PS3s and an XBOX ONE that is BC with all Microsoft games. I'm pretty sure the first two exist and those PS3s I mentioned are still out there, but damn it would be cool if every gaming company released consoles that play games from every console they've ever released ... granted, they can and eventually will do that digitally in a sense, but I want the "real" thing.

I played one of those games, I think Legacy of Kain on the Dreamcast.  Had a lot of fun with that.

Soul Reaver was the Dreamcast game and still the definitive version. Mine is gone now so at least I have the PC version although it is supposed to be the PS1 version which is the worst of the lot but still worth playing.

i'm slowly getting back into Steam...started my second playthrough of Knights Of The Old Republic today.  I can't remember any of the first playthrough when it comes to completing quests, so I've been farting around Taris for nearly 2 hours =)

Yep, I accepted the friend request when I saw it. Be aware though that ChisTheMighty is my son and is on there a hell of a lot more than I am.

I was going to pick up Deus Ex and the original Thief on this sale, but decided to not do it just so I can save some money.

It is so easy to spend money on Steam. The fact that you can resist is a good thing. er, I think. :)

I tried out Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain on the PS1 several years ago and found it kind of slow, particularly because of the load times between screens. That and I heard it is famously long, like over 100 hours Surprised I have Soul Reaver 1 and 2 for the PS1 and 2, though, and will play them eventually lol.

The first Blood Omen is totally different from the rest of the series and none of them come close to being 100 hours. Soul Reaver is a great game.

Damn awesome pickup for $8. I don't think I've ever played the first (or maybe the 2nd) Soul Reaver but I do know I have one of them on the Dreamcast.

Maybe it's a good thing I haven't jumped back into PC gaming or else my backlog would really be insane.

Only the first Soul Reaver was released on DC. 2 was cancelled for Dreamcast and became a PS2 game.

still debating about getting the Suikoden games off PSN. I'd really like to own the disc copies but those current asking prices for them are tempting me to go digital (again)
