What I've spent money on this weekend

My Mother In Law gave me $100 for setting up her new PC. I could have put it in the bank but where's the fun in that?

Yesterday I picked up the FFX HD remake, Atelier Ayesha and Heavy Rain (because it was 10 bucks new and I've never played it.

Then on PSN I bought Trails in the Sky, Legend of Dragoon, Xenogears and Chrono Cross. Those are all games that I have sold my physical copies of.

I bought the Atelier game just to see how far the series has come. I played Atelier Iris years ago and loved it so much I bought the second and third games. I started the second game and didn't like it very much so I didn't bother with the third game either. Now I've sold those games.

I thought I'd give it another shot.

I don't know if I'm ever going to play through Heavy Rain. It seems like one long QTE but I'll see how far I get.

In car news I went to the dealership yesterday hoping that they were going to get me into a new vehicle at no additional expense to myself. I came away empty handed. The person we were dealing with basically said "we can't get enough for your trade so either plunk down several thousand dollars or  I'll find someone to drive you home." End of story.

Needless to say I'm pretty pissed off and considering legal action against them now. All they had to do was eat a few grand to make me happy and make up for the fact that we could have been killed due to their negligence but no, they just blew us off.

sounds like a car dealership.  i hate dealing with car dealerships.  every time i've ever been to one I've walked away feeling a little bit screwed somehow.

I usually save QTE style games and point-and-click style adventure games like The Wolf Among Us for when I am tired or not feeling well and still want to game.  Those (along with most older JRPGs) are the perfect sort of game to play while you are lying down on your couch.  The action is controlled at your own pace, too, so typically when you doze off you wake up to find yourself not dying for the 100th time....game's right where you left it.  That's been my experience with them anyhow!  I did TellTale's The Walking Dead games in such a fashion, and Monkey Island 2 shortly thereafter.

that list is full of worthy buys.  Hey have you heard anything about any PSN sales for this next week?  I've got a $20 psn card that's burning a hole in my pocket

nah, I've been checking for sales but haven't seen anything yet. I wound up spending the 50 I had in my wallet on the games I listed in my blog. Mark my words there'll be a great sale coming as it always does right after I empty my wallet. :D

I shall keep you posted.

I am seriously considering the FFX HD remake myself, but as I have no money to spare at the moment, the point is moot. As for the car, that totally sucks. As the problem was theirs, they should make it right.

I'm going to be making an appointment for them to check my car out to make sure that no additional damage has been done and they will be refunding what I paid for the service since they didn't actually do it properly/

I loved Heavy Rain.  It might be different than a typical game, but it's still good.  I liked it a lot.

Trails in the Sky is fun.  I got about 2/3 through it but then I bought a Vita.  Haven't touched my PSP since.  Maybe I can copy over my saved game.  Hmmmm.

never played chronocross or Dragoon, but I want to.

Sorry about your car.  I wish I could offer some solid advice but I don't know much about that sort of thing.

Sound like you made a good score I got Altelier Meruru the apprentice of Arland and now I want the whole series at first it seemed a little girly but after spending time with it, it has a deep and complex alchemy system which I really liked and yesterday I bought Stella Dues off psn and im really digging it, and I got heavy rain as well and although the controls are crazy the game seems good my freind from EA just beat it the other day and said its really good.and by the way my ea freind beat Heavy Rain in two days so its not as long as you may think..

Those Atelier games can really suck you in. At least Atelier Iris did for me. I wasn't sure about it at first and then the alchemy kicked in an I loved it. I hope the same happens to me here. If I'm suitably impressed by this one I'll be looking for the Arland games too.

I love that PSN has been putting classic PS1 and 2 games on their service. I want to play all those games you mentioned.

I love being able to play PS1 games on my PSP.

I haven't tried that yet. Sounds like a great idea.

I guess all that's left to do is seduce a policewoman and have her slash all their tires before they go home.

Make sure you seduce the policewoman first, though, I don't want you getting in trouble.

Slashing tires isn't going to help Joe.

Well of course it's not going to help me, but that's not the point.

P.S.

You missed a comma. Tongue Out

I own many of the same games and hadn't played them yet.

I just got the FFX HD Collection too, though gave away the code for 2. No interest in that game whatsoever. Having fun with X though, just as long as it doesn't involve Blitzball.

Except for the mandatory game I will not be playing Blitzball either.  I have to resist the urge to start playing X until I've at least cleared ToG F and BD though.

I'd really like to play most of those games, hopefully some time soon.

I like that I can now play so many PS1 games on my PSP. That system still has a lot of life left in it for me. Now if I can only give the 3DS a rest while I get to some other games. :)

Great way to spend a hundred bucks. But damn if that dosen't suck about the dealer. What pricks I hope you get compensated well for how they treated you.

04/14/2014 at 05:18 PM

Well the service manager has already agreed to refunding the money for my last service and what I had to pay to have my wheels put back on properly so I guess that is something.

I'm also going to have them assess my car to make sure the loose wheels did not cause any further damage to my vehicle.

Dude that sucks about your car. I don't know if it would help, but I would write a letter to the car company the dealership buys their cars from, and let them know about your situation and how they lost a loyal customer because of it.

As for your pickups, I think you mom in law would agree you did the right thing with the $100.

04/14/2014 at 05:48 PM

LOL, sure she would. I'm not sure what I want to do about the car fiasco. Job one it getting my money back.

Nice buys! I'm still trying to access the damage to my wallet since my birthday buys. I made sure to spread it out so I can buy what I want over time. I'm just happy to get Chrono Cross when it went on sale during the Golden Week sale.
