I think I've burned myself out on Bravely Default

I only have the final boss battle to go but after I found out it has 5 stages and you can't tank your way through them I'm wondered whether I should bother.

On the one hand I'd like to finally finish the game but on the other hand it seems like a lot of work.

ah yes, the five stage JRPG end boss.  Gotta love it.

3 I can do, 5 is outrageous. Long final boss battles stopped my from finishing FF VII. I got to Sephiroth and then wound up turning the game off because he just wouldn't die.

dammit you let Sephiroth win!

Been there before.  Some rpgs are just too damn long.

Yes they are but I usually try to finish if I'm still interested. I'll hell bent to finish Tales of Graces F. I've been playing for so long but I'm still enjoying the game.

I playing Graces f now.  Is it really long?  I was hoping it wasn't.

It depends how much you want to do. I've been doing as many of the Inn Requests as I can and various side quests. I've spent 70+ hours but most people can finish it in a lot less.

I only do the inn requests if I happen to have the items they're looking for or know exactly where to find it.  I think I'm getting real close to the end.

I feel your pain. I gave up on FF IV because I couldn't beat the last boss.

I pooped out in the middle of the final dungeon in FF IV. Just stopped for no particular reason and never went back.

I typically like to beat every game I play, but there are at least a couple RPGs where I have quit at the final boss and then just watched the ending on youtube (I know I did this with Persona 1).  I feel less guilty about doing this with RPGs, especially after I go on the internet to finds tips on fighting the boss and realize that is less about skill and more about grinding more.  "Oh, everyone who is suggesting strategies is like 20 levels above me.  Should I spent 10 more hours grinding just to beat one last boss? Hell no! Youtube here I come."  I still feel like I beat them anyways.  It's when I can't beat the final boss in an action game that I become really frustrated.

I'm pretty much maxed out at level 99 for every team member and all the relevant jobs at level 14.

In Bravely Default that still does not guarantee victory. One wrong move can cost you dearly.

That sucks.

I wonder if Golden Sun has a five-stage end boos. Guess I'll never finish that game, if so.

Yeah, that final boss fight is a long one, though not as long as I thought it'd be at first.

Yeah, I'm right there and I'm not sure whether I want to go through with it. It's not like I hated the game, I really enjoyed most of it but 5 forms!?!

It gets harder and harder to justify spending so much time on one game when there are so many great games coming out so close together.

Since I most play RPGs it really does mess me up for playing the other stuff I have.

I thought I'd finally get to The Longest Journey as a shorter alternative but then I found out that it's 40 hours long. Holy crap, a 40 hour point and click.

Cary the White Mage casts CURE4 on everyone so they'll be all better, and then casts NICE4 on everyone so we can all be friends.

Multi-stage bosses. Ugh! I just did a two-stager in Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. It's double the anxiety.

I could almost say the same thing about Alundra, but I really just want to finish the game.  That way I dont feel bad when I move on.

It's a shame when you play a game out so much you get burned out. Sounds like it's time to take a rest until you ready for the final run, moreso if it takes so long to do. Been awhile since i did a boss run in a JRPG. perhaps a stragety guide?

Turned out way better than expected. It was a long final battle but the story was wrapped up nicely during the phases. I'm glad I didn't give up.
