From what I've been reading on June 9th Microsmurf will release a Kinect free XB1 for the reduced price of $399.

Oh and they're going to allow people to access Netflix and similar apps without paying for Gold. Damn nice of them don't you think? *rolls eyes*

One would guess that the move is to put them on a level playing field with the PS4. I know I still don't want one. What about you?

I'm still not getting an Xbone myself, TBH. I already have a PS4, and while I think it's good that MS, under the leadership of Phil Spencer, is acknowledging the mistakes made under Mattrick, there still is nothing enticing me to get a Xbox One. Don't care about Halo, Gears, Forza, or Fable, and the PS4 will get pretty much everything else.

Ill prolly buy one sooner then previously since they finally are releasing a kinectless one but Im still waiting. I want them to get a few more games on it that id play. They had to give in eventually.

accessing Netfix sans Gold?  Too little too late for me.

After 3 separate Xbox 360 consoles with 3 separate issues, I have to sat that M-Soft and I parted ways bitterly.

Thats not to say that this isn't a value here.  Its just not for me...when i finally am ready to get a new console (or consoles) it'll be a PS4 and a Wii U.

My ol lady STILL raves about how much fun we used to have playing bowling.

As far as systems I would buy we're on the same page.

I've heard ruminations about this on IGN's Podcast Unlocked. I'm glad it's now $399 because that's really my limit for consoles. Still not enough games I want to get one though. Also, I'm kinda liking the Kinect on 360 lately, so if I get a X1, I'd probably get it with the Kinect anyway.

Honestly, games like Killer Instinct and Sunset Overdrive really appeal to me, so this definitely makes XBO on more even footing with PS4 for me. Granted, it may come down to the fact I'd like to say I bought a PS4 in 2014 being the deciding factor, but I'm not totally on either camp's side or against until I see some more stuff ...

... or for fuck's sake, PLAY some more stuff, because I swear I'd have decided months ago if more than 2 of the 10 or so kiosks I've seen at different stores actually let you play the damn games!

But if Demons Souls 2 is coming to PS4 then Im getting a PS4.

As soon as the PS4 and the Xbox One have games on them that appeal to me, then I'll consider getting one.

You may be waiting a long time Cary. Probably longer for the XB1 than the PS4 I would think.

That may be true, but what's the point of getting a game console if there are no games on it you want to play?  If only Sony would make Loco Roco 3...

There isn't a point Cary. I won't be doing it either. I'm just saying that they don't seem to have many games you would like on the horizon.

I would get one, but only after the Wii U, then the PS4. Until money grows on trees...

$400 is still quite a bit of money for me to invest in and not feel guilty. I never wanted the Kinect or any internet-connected camera in my apartment so taking it away means it was never necessary. Which is what we all suspected, right?

The Netflix/Hulu access isn't final - I've read on Shacknews - but it would be a smart move. I've paid for Gold since I've started an account back in '07 because I've always felt I got my money's worth as far as the online infrastructure is concerned (before I purchased a PS3 last year, it was also my only gaming option). The weird thing here is that I've felt their Netflix app has been spotty in quality (loss of audio on playback, goofy menus) at times, while the Hulu Plus app has been pretty solid.

I got that email about how the apps and I feel that this feature should have been with the system right out of the box. I mean when Microsoft had their E3 presentation, it was an all in one media center...yet you could only use these big media features if you have gold.

The Kinect isn't my thing. I've played games that use it, and after the excitement for trying something new, I lost interest. This new release has my attention because it's at the PS3 price point, and doesn't have a piece of hardware I would never use.

I see they're starting to come to their senses lol. I heard that the "Games with Gold" games on X1 will be similar PS+ where you only get them as long as you're a member. Not surprising.

While I've already made my mind up to go PS4 when I'm ready for a new console, this is obviously a good move by MS. Levels the playing field and now it's just down to the games. This is great news for gamers. Competition is key to a great generation

I don't know if I'd ever get an Xbox One, though maybe if I already had the other two consoles and had a bunch of money left over.

I don't think I'll be going there even if I do manage to buy the other two first. I just have no interest and don't want to give them any more money.

I'd be more than happy if they got out of the gaming business altogether but I can't see that happening.

I'm glad Microsoft is being competitive that will only benefit us the gamers. That way Sony and Microsoft will be competing even harder for our money. I am just waiting to see what Nintendo does next. What if they go at an even lower price?

So are you saying that microsoft was "mis-informing" us that the kinect for the Xbox One was needed or else the system wouldn't function? So what about the people that currently own an Xbox One with connect and they wish to sell their kinect units seeing how they are not "required"

I'd say no I don't want one but after hearing about the master chief collection....why can't I have my halo 2 enhnaced on my Xbox 360!!!
