I never was a big fan of Elevator Action, but this one was definitely way improved. My brother Jeff loved this game on Taito Legends 2 and beat it several times. I never could get into Exit either.

This, the sequel to Elevator Action, is a 2D action game where you use elevators to take you from platform to platform while enemies shoot at you. It improves over the first game with both vertical and horizontal scrolling, much more detailed and colorful environments, more weaponry, and more levels.
I had no idea what to do in Elevator Action in Taito Legends 1, but EA Returns in Taito Legends 2 is presented much better, and I saw right away that you have to enter all the red doors on a level to proceed. Pretty simple right?
"Demo Roll" is my new favorite term. I wonder what kind of sushi that would be.
You can fire weapons, throw an explosive, or perform melee attacks with a punch or a jump kick. You can also use the environment e.g., draw an enemy under an elevator to crush him, or shoot an oil drum that will explode or roll across the platform. Pickups are in marked crates or given randomly behind blue doors.
There’s a time limit for each level, but the timer only appears when it's about to run out.

The story is that you are part of a secret task force out to stop some terrorists (gee, something new for once. . . NOT!). There are six stages ending in a missile base where you have to stop the terrorists from launching a nuclear missile. You choose from three characters: Kart Bradfield, the fastest runner but slowest shooter; Edie Burret (female), the fastest shooter with the least health, but carries fire bombs as her sub weapon; Jad The Taff the toughest and the slowest runner, but can tackle foes if he runs into them. I played as Edie in my play-through and boy, those fire bombs are devastating and give you some good points.
Light 'em up!
The graphics are very colorful and carefully drawn. It reminds me of the Exit games but with more detail.
Nice detail!
The music is funky cool. The piano parts remind me of the Exit music, and do you know why? It’s also a Taito game. It also reminds me of the background music in Sega Bass Fishing.
That's some phat bass!
You can get this game within Taito Legends 2 on PS2, Xbox, or PC, or you can get it as a stand alone game on Sega Saturn, which comes with the first game as well.
