 Hi guys. Have some music.

Kayo Dot - The Manifold Curiosity

This song is fucking beautiful. I don't know what to classify it as. It's like a mix of post rock and modern classical with some folk and a touch of metal thrown in occasionally? Idk. Kayo Dot are weird okay. Their wikipedia says this for their genre: Avant-garde metal,[1] avant-garde rock,[2] progressive rock, progressive metal, post-rock, post-metal, experimental metal, jazz, jazz fusion, chamber music. It really depends what moment of what song you're listening to I guess. Anyway, it's awesome.

Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine

Speaking of beautiful, you don't get much more so than this. Holy shit, man tears everytime I hear it. Seriously, this is one of the most gorgeous pieces of guitar ever.

 Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Powerless

Now I've got you all tranquil, I am going to startle and confuse you. This band named themselves after a Dada movement. Yeah, you don't get much more pretentious than that. The music is good though, so FUCKING LISTEN!

Dog Fashion Disco - Tastes So Sweet

Yeah, I'm still addicted to these guys, partially because I'm not entirely sure this isn't a new Mr. Bungle album. Sure as shit sounds like one. Well, this song is infectiously catchy anyway.

Shining - In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster

And let's just top it off with an awesome bit of prog rock, shall we?

Sorry for the late reply, been awol. Since you like classical, you might dig on Kayo Dot. They merge postmodern classical, folk, jazz and post rock/metal. The composition style is definitely classically influenced though.

Blake, isn't too early for a christmas present? :P

Great song posting as always. I really liked the calmess of the Kayo Dot and Explosions in the Sky tracks, Powerless is the kind of weird I like (and it's the first time listening to that band) and the other two tracks are equally great.

Cool! Thanks. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is one of those bands I used to listen to in High School then forgot about.

Kayo Dot makes me think of King Crimson, especially their Red album.
Shining is cool! That bass sounds like John Wetton to me.

Yea, I'm a Crimhead.

Haha! Do yourself and buy Steve Wilson's The Raven That Refused to Sing. It's basically a modern update of that.

Listened to the album preview on iTunes. Reminds me of fusion band Focus.
