Allgame.com Shutting Down!

Allgame.com, a database of video games, easily searchable, and full of information about every game for every system, is shutting down on December 12th.

For me, this really sucks because I used this resource regularly. As soon as I found out about their closure, I saved pages of games for each genre up through games ranked 4 stars and up. This way I have a reference I can use for a long time, but I will be missing any new releases from this time forward. I'll have to find another resource for that. Any ideas out there?

It's alright. Seems most people use things like gamefaqs and stuff, but I don't know if they have such a easy to use and comprehensive database like allgame.com.

Best give Wikipedia your $3. lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_video_games

In all seriousness, that sucks though.

I use wikipedia to give me an overview of a year in gaming. That's pretty cool, but for a complete list, you can't beat allgame.com.

Bleh, that sucks. I first discovered allgame back in 2000.I was tickled to find so many of my favorite obscure games listed.

What I like is that it goes back as far as you want. With Metacritic, it only goes back to like 2001 or so. I like a database that includes every game ever made. Yea!

that sucks, man.  I never used it, but I hate when internet institutions shut down like that.

It was such an awesome resource. I like to look at all the games ever made in one massive database. I dont' know if anyone else has done this.

I used to pal around on All Game waaaay back in 2004-ish.  That sire inspired me to write game reviews.

Yea, there are a lot of reviews there on the site. Brett Weiss, who's book I just read, wrote a bunch of them. I hope the site gets archived. I read some forum posts that suggested some people were going to try doing that on archive.org.

I wish I could help but I don't know of any game resource pages. It is a shame because the site you are describing sounds like an excellent resource for the history of video games.

It was like a giant Excel spread sheet full of just about every game ever made. It was easily sortable too in many different ways. I loved it.

Sorry but never heard of it. Perhaps it's time for another video game database to take it's place?

I hope so. How am I going to figure out what to play next if I can't see the entire list of every game ever made before my eyes? Oh heavens!
