Not much time today. Gotta work fast. Last night I ran my 6 Miis through their paces. Two of them didn't show up for the games though. I guess they didn't download any of them. So I used my coins to fill in and it was still fun.

Then I tried Pokemon Shuffle. Boy, this brings back memories of Puzzle Quest. I love Puzzle Quest! I was worried the in-game purchases would be annoying, but they weren't at all. You have a limited number of plays (they use hearts to signifiy this). You start with 5. Then you can get gems from gameplay or interacting with Street Passes and use them to purchase more "hearts", or plays. I found the starting five plenty. I have very limited time at night, and about a half or full hour of gameplay is about all I have anyway. So it's a big thumbs up! It's casual fun and you catch Pokemon with a Puzzle Quest style matching game. What's not to like.

I should mention too that you can choose which captured Pokemon to use in each "battle" and some of them have a meter, which if you match them a lot, will fill and evolve them, making an even more powerful Pokemon that, when matched, does more damage. Once you defeat a Pokemon, you have to capture it and the chance of that is determined by how rare the Pokemon is and how fast (fewest turns) you beat the puzzle. You ca purchase a special Pokeball to get a better chance to capture, but it's really expensive. You pay for it with coins that you earn for victories. You can use them for lots of different buffs and you can pay for them with real bucks too, but it's not pushed on you, which I'm thankful for.

That's about it for me today. I wanted to post my Monk screen shots from Diablo III, but I haven't had time to hook up my camera to my laptop. I've been "shuffling" my schedule around to improve my health and make time for exercise, and it's been difficult to get on the computer.

Happy algorithms pixlbits!

I should get on my computer less.

I tried to use it during the day, but I don't like being on the computer during the day, I found, so I'm back on at night. I have an alarm that goes off to tell me to stop. It's the only way.

I like Shuffle. Its a quick enjoyable game and what I like is the customizing of which Pokemon you use. Not a bad freemimum game.

Yea, it's pretty cool. I just got a Street Pass for it. Not sure how to use that yet, but next time I play it I'll figure that out.

I really want to get into a gym, but I've got to establish the habit first. I'm just trying to get up earlier and do a lot of walking. Once that's regular, then I join the gym. I'm kinda excited about it. I want to be athletic again.

I dno't think Pokemon Shuffle is that bad at all.  I've been enjoying it.  At least it's not as bad as some of the free-to-play stuff on the iPad.  In May, Nintendo is releaseing Puzzle & Dragon Z in the US, which is a very similar game.  It'll be a cartridge, and they're including a special Mario version on it, too!

I'm interested in that Puzzle & Dragon game. I'll give it a look when it comes out.

The problem with Pokemon Shuffle is when you get to the later stages you can't possibly beat challenges with your weak pokemon with a limited number of turns, and you certainly cannot capture them either because unless you buy super pokeballs from the store which only give you slight advantage. If you can't beat a challenge with 5 hearts you have to wait 30 mins or, like you say an entire day to keep playing. I played up to the 20th pokemon and unlocked some more challenging modes before I posted impressions. At first the game is fine when it draws you in giving you hearts and crystals for free, but later it gets pretty aggressive with asking for handouts and the game is unbalance, it is designed to keep you from playing on purpose.

Right now I'm up to nearly stage 50 and have caught more than 30 Pokemon and I haven't run into that trouble yet.  But I do know what you mean.  A lot of free-to-play tablet games make it impossible to progress unless you spend money.  Luckily I haven't gotten to that point in Shuffle yet, so for a free game, I've gotten my money's worth out of it and am still enjoying it in short bursts.

The game isn't unplayable. Most games that have a F2P system are playable. In fact they are designed to be very addictive. The problem comes with end game. I got up to like lvl 40, but I haven't been able to 'catch' and collect them all because stats or whatever. The daily pokemon are hard to catch too. There is also an expert mode which is even harder. I got Mew in expert or whatever.

I haven't played very much of it yet. I haven't had time. The end game sounds kind of annoying.

I played a lot of the game before I put an impression up. As most F2P games, they ease you in but towards the mid/end game it will really require you to wait to play or pay to win. Around lvl 40, you have to beat some Pokemon with a minimum amoun tof moves, which will feel impossible and you'll probably waste your 5 lives trying to take down 1 pokemon, then wait for a recharge and try again. Whatever. I'm still playing through it here and there just to see what else it does.

Cool. I'm trying to find some time for it but failing miserably.
