For this BaD I'm going to talk about game genres I don't play and why. Then you get your turn.

I've given most genres a shot, some more than a shot and here's the list of things I have either given up on or have no interest in.

I know that a few of you like to play at least one of these genres so remember that this is my opinion and is in no way meant to cast aspersions on your character.

1. Military Shooters (will never play)

This is in part because they are meant to simulate real life wars between human beings. If I want to see that I can watch the TV news. The other part is my aversion to killing another person unless they've suddenly become some sort of evil monster with 6 arms and are attacking me.

I have no interest in killing someone in real life and don't have the urge to do it in a game. Even if it is to keep Murica free. Given that I'm a British Canadian that isn't a selling point either. War is hell, not a playground.

2. Grand Theft Auto and All its Clones (will never play)

Simulating criminal activity as a form as enjoyment is another thing I just don't get. Running around stealing cars and kiling hookers isn't my cup of tea either.

The closest I have ever come would be Simpsons Hit and Run which isn't very close at all really.

3. Sports Games (I get bored too quickly)

Unless they are cartoony, arcadey or Mario sports games bore me to tears. I did buy a couple of golf games but burned out on them really quickly.

4. Fighting Games (I'm just really bad at them)

I've owned and played quite a few fighting games. Some Tekken, Some Soul Calibur, some Virtua Fighter etc. By played mean mashed buttons until by some fluke I won the match or more likely got wiped out by the AI. I guess it doesn't help that I played them alone because I there are very few multiplayer games I enjoy.

5. Driving Games (Again I mostly suck but I try)

I have several driving games in my collection but other than kart racers I rarely played for very long. I have a few Gran Turismos and Project Gotham games. I even have a Forza 2 Limited Edition that I bought the day it came out. I don't know why. I really don't have the patience.

I have few Burnout games too but I like them more for the crashing. :)

6. All the iOS, Android and Facebook timewasters  Like Candy Crush Saga etc.

Games for people who don't really want to play games. I also hate people on facebook who invite me to play that stuff. How many posts stating that I'm not interested in that kind of "gaming" do I have to make for you to shut the fuck up?

Anyway that's it for today. Are there any genres you don't like, can't stand or would rather not play?

See you for one final BaD tomorrow Picklebits

JRPGs and RTS for the same reason you can't play racers and fighters. They tend to bore me and I suck at them.

I want to be good at racers and fighters, I start off with good intentions but it devolves into frustration and failure. :)

hey Pete.  Good idea for a blog.  I used to enjoy military shooters, but not so much anymore.  I did enjoy Titanfall though, that was good.

I do play GTA but the last one left me a little bitter.  I'm going to buy it again though when it comes to PC to try 1st person mode and give it another shot.  They have good gameplay, I just have a hard time stomaching the nihilism at my age.

I like sports games but have no one to play with.  I do really like Mario Sports games too.

I'm bad at fighting games too but I like them.  I fantasize that I am good.  I was good at Soul Caliber on the Dreamcast though.

I like racing games.

I like RPG's on the phone.  Otherwise, that shit can go to hell.

Hope u are well.  Laughing

Oops replied to the wrong post.

I'm as well as can be expected. I've had to ween myself off my meds because I can no longer afford them so I'm hoping I don't need them anymore.

There is no genre I won't play, time and money allowing. I haven't played a racing or sports game in years because time and money has not allowed me a chance to do so while tackling all the other games I mess with.

wish I could be that open but I'm not so there I have me. LOL

Given that 4 and 5 aren't genres I haven't played just ones that I gave up on due to the suckage there's not a whole lot I won't give a chance. The first two I just won't play on principal and 6. is because I just don't see the point in spending my time when there are so many better things to be experienced.

If it's not silly or whimsical, I generally won't play it.  A few exceptions here and there, but otherwise...

Yep after all this time I know what you like pretty well Cary. :) Honestly I like that stuff too, I just like some darker stuff as well.

I'm pretty done with military shooters. CoD 4 and Spec Ops The Line gave me everything I wanted from them in completely opposite was. Sandbox games I like, but they need to be goofy. Dicking around in the sandbox isn't fun if everything's serious. Sports, driving, and fighting games don't hold my attention long either with a few exception. But SRPGs are what really bore me. Except Pokemon Conquest

Yeah I think something that you said made me check out Saints Row 3. I didn't play a lot but it was pretty goofy with the Big Head heist at the beginning.

I have a hard time with a lot of SRPGs but for some reason the Devil Survivor games held me to the end

You know it's not neccesary to run over people on the GTA games, right?

Anyway, I feel like i'm open to most genres. That said, though I don't dislike them, i'm not a player of sports games. Military shooters i'm also not very interested, but I could give them the benefit of the doubt one of these days. I think the only one i'm not fully into is mobile gaming in general, especially on this touch age. Aside from the time wasters you mentioned, I don't "get" the motion controls in general when it comes to cellphones.

Btw, I love driving games :P

I love driving games too in theory. I love the way the games look, I love driving around the various tracks but when it comes to the racing I'm dead last every time. The only ones I ever win at are kart racers.

I don't care for Military FPS at all. Although I do appreciate the classics like Doom, Unreal Tournament (I know your not a fan of that series lol) Duke 3D and what not. So basically 90's era FPS. The only sports games I like are crazy, ridiculous nonsense. Like Mutant League Football and NBA Jam.

I liked Doom and Unreal (but not the multiplayer crap). I also had fun with the Duke Nukem games back then . Mainly the reason I don't play FPss in general is because they make me seasick. It's only military shooters I don't like and will not play.

I can understand that. My cousin gets sick too. I just never got into Military FPS. They seem so generic. There are so many FPS games out there that if I'm gonna bother with them I want futuristic weapons, dodging off walls, and meaty single player campaigns.

I'm pretty terrible at fighting games, but at the same time I like them so much.

I'm mostly sympathetic with the genres you mentioned. I do like going against my instincts from time to time though just to experience something different. Platformers drive me nuts but I keep trying them to see if one appeals to me. So far only DKC has appealed to me. Survival Horror is also not a genre i am drawn to, but I tried Silent Hill and loved it.

I'm not a fan of RPGs. I've tried to get into them, some I've kind of liked but overall as a group not a fan. I'm also starting to sour on freemium games genre (if that counts.) If the game is good, I would glady pay 3-4 dollars on that product instead of having a set number of times to play per hour as well as constantly being hit with Buy these upgrades for X amount of dollars.
