Ah, the power of the consumer triumphs!
Let this be a lesson to you: don't drink and shop, lol.
Love the Strike games! My copy of Desert Strike is on my list of missing games :(
Good thing I never did the update. One good thing about my little NCIS marathon that I've been on lately, haven't used the PS3 for anything other than a glorified DVD player for a while.
Oh, Firefly! Blake, I am an original Browncoat, I stayed home on Friday nights and watched the show as it aired, out of sequence, and cried when it was cancelled. Bought the DVD set the day it released and watched all 14 episodes within two days.
To be honest, I think it may be a generational thing. Those of us who grew up geeks in the 80s and early 90s can identify. Most people growing up in your generation, not so much. When I was in high school, beong a geek was something you did your damnedest to hide if you didn't want to deal with constant ridicule and harrassment. Now, it's cool to be a geek.
As for Two and a Half Men, well, if I had to endure more than three minutes of that mindless drivel, I'd stab myself in the eyesocket with a screwdriver.
I like The Big Bang Theory, but I can laugh at myself, too. The show that I think is the biggest steaming pile of shit on TV is Parks and Recreation. Written by some idiot who doesn't have a fucking clue about anything to do with parks or recreation or what people who work in that field do.
The Fellowship of the Ring was the closest to the book, and the only one of the movies I liked. The other two deviated way too much. That whole bit with Aragorn going over the cliff in The Two Towers? So not part of the book. I think I may actually have liked the 70s cartoon version of The Lord of the Rings better than the Peter Jackson movies. There was a very good film critique in The New York Times called "What Have They Done To Our Precious?" (or something like that) that pretty much hit the nail on the head as to why I dislike the movies so.
As for Star Wars...if I pretend the reboots don't exist, I'm a much happier person, lol.
I wish my dad was still around...
I like action games and I like RPGs. I don't like action mixed with my RPGs. I think it's because I'm old. I grew up on text adventures like Zork and dungeon crawlers like Wizardry, where everything was turn-based.
As for series being messed with: you ranted about one of my big ones in this blog. Star Wars is another. Han shot first, I remember him doing it on the big screen when I was eight, and he does it on the video cassette that I will hold onto until Hell freezes over. I hate the LoTR movies. I know I'm in the minority, but...
