Cary's Adventures in the Mushroom Kingdom

We should both feel lucky we got to go there, since many won't have that opportunity.  If you want an audio version of my Super Nintendo Land experience, plus a review of the Mario movie, be sure to check out my latest episode of my podcast.  There's a link to it in my newest blog here.

The Week of Gaming

My cousins had the Mattel Football game back in the day.

Atari 50 is great.  I've met David Crane in person twice.  Once at E3 and another time at the grand opening of the National Video Game Museum (which I helped set up).

It's great to see expos like this still going.  I know video game expos like E3 and PAX are supposedly dying, and I hate that because nothing will replace the social interaction fun that these kinds of things provide.

I've only seen Puzzle de Pon on a couple of NEO GEO arcade cabinets, but I've seen Bust-A-Move everywhere!  Even on its own dedicated cabinets.

One Arcade Archive I'm really glad they did was Libble Rabble, since it was done by the same guy who created Pac-Man.

Eh, it's just a standard shooter and not that great either.

Metroid Prime is a great one.  You don't see games like that much anymore.

I think to build the first raft there should be a full sail with mast nearby, you just have to walk around and find it.  And since the game doesn't tell you what it looks like, that could be harder than it seems.  Tears of the Kingdom is great, but it sure ain't intuitive.  I know one raft you have to make early on uses fans, not a sail, so look around for those, too.

Yeah I'm lucky we didn't have to wait that long.

I reviewed Oceanhorn a few years ago.

There was a Oceanhorn sequel that was a copy of a 3D type Zelda title, but I didn't get to review that one.

I have two ideas for game sequels, so I hope you can make the time to read both please.

My first idea actually came to me in a dream.  I dreamed I was playing a sequel to Ristar.  Ristar was a 2-D platformer SEGA Genesis game, and I actually liked it better than Sonic.  Anyway, in my dream, I was playing a sequel to it that was also a 16-bit 2-D platformer.  It was called Ristar and Comette.  It played a lot like the first game, except now two people could play at the same time.  Player 2 was Comette, Ristar's sister who had a pink heart face instead of a star face like Ristar.  She also had a ponytail that would trail behind her like a comet's tail.  Both characters played the same, though.  When I woke up, I thought it was cool that my brain came up with that idea while I was sleeping, but as I thought about it, since you bounce around a lot in that game, it probably wouldn't make for a very good two player experience.

I really wish Capcom would make my idea for another sequel I thought of.  I was really upset when Capcom cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 on the 3DS.  But what I really want is a sequel to The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.  I really liked that one.  It was a 3-D action game that also mixed puzzles, exploration, and even crew management.  But most people just liked the action stages so I'd just focus on those for the sequel.  In the new game, you could play as either Tron Bonne or her rival from the first game, Denise the policewoman.  In the story, they'd have to reluctantly team up to stop a bigger threat, and two could play at the same time.  I know Capcom would never do this, instead all they want to do is make games that make them lots of money, like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.  Well I have needs too, you know. :)

By the way, I just posted a podcast episode of my own where my brother Jeff and I review the Mario movie and I talk about my trip to Super Nintendo World.  Please give it a listen if you have a chance.
