The scepter looks fine to me.

The more I play it, the more I see it as maybe less flawed and more a product of the times. The awkwardness of the action seems more like a lack of technology than polish. You can tell a ton of work went into this game. I read that it had a long dev cycle and Microsoft got them (they bought Rare around the same time) to repurpose it as a Xbox 360 launch title.
The game reminds me so much of the Skylanders games. They started six years later in 2011 and controls/camera were not an issue in those.
I suspected that. It's only like Dark Souls, really, in that the battles are a little more tactical than typical God of War games. I liked the animations on the enemies though, reminded me of Ray Harryhausen monsters in his movies.
I tried to read up on the GameCube version but I couldn't find much. The game was in long development and Microsoft meddled a bit because they had just bought Rare.
I didn't get super into Nier Automata the first time but it was probably because I got stuck early on, before I even got to a save point, so I just repeated the opening battles over and over. I got to figure out that double saw battle next time.
Oh Severed. I think I have that on my Vita. I remember playing it for a while but not finishing it. Some puzzle got me stuck, I think.
They made Kratos a God and now he's a barely functional old man who has to have is tiny son save his ass. Totally stupid. I loved the combat in the 4 previous God of War games but they've been getting farther and farther away from it as QTEs and heaps of story and cinematics crept into the series. I no like! Kratos smash! That's all I want, bloody chunks and flying chain blades. They're gettin' too fancy with it.
I got past that Factory level the first time I played it. I guess I was just impatient this time.
I'm still thinking about Deadpool. Want to play it again and finish it on Ultraviolent. Deadpool 2 in the theaters this friday!!!
Really, the camera and control is much better than many other games I've played. I tend to exagerate a little when I get frustrated with a game. It's actually a testament to how good it is overall that I'm still playing it. I have little tolerance for control issues in games. I usually quit well before finishing them.
Yea, I was looking forward to flying, but I had to jump across these pedistals and kept falling off. Ug, nothing angers me more than having to repeat a platforming sequence over and over.
I think Souls fans might love it. Man is it a gorgeous feast for the eyes though. It's totally worth it for the visuals. I love the way it moves into a cut scene. The only way you know it's a cut scene is that suddenly you can't control the character. Nothing visually changes at all. Great.
