EA Sports scores big with its latest soccer installement
Soccer fans came out in droves this past week. FIFA '12 was released last week on September 27, 2011 and first week sales have totaled to 3.2 million copies, making it the biggest sports launch in history and the biggest video game launch of 2011 thus far. This is a 23% increase in sales over last year's release.
Sing and Dance to the hits by the Swedish sensation
Ubisoft revealed ABBA: You Can Dance for the Nintendo Wii today. Developed by Ubisoft Paris, Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Bucharest, the title will include 26 songs, including "Dancing Queen", "Waterloo", and "Mamma Mia", for four players to dance and two players to sing along to. The will have choreography and stages inspired by the groups live appearances and music videos.
This new model will have a few variations from the current Wii.
Earlier today, Official Nintendo Magazine's website was updated with a news story revealing a new version of the Wii console. This new console is quoted as being "streamlined," and will officially lay horizontally, lacking a vertical stand. This particular Wii will be released "before Christmas," and will be bundled with Wii Sports and Wii Party. In addition to the changes above, this Wii model will not include GameCube controller ports, and will not be compatible with GameCube games.
The game will land on November 20th.
In a press release, Nintendo confirmed a November 20th North American release date for the latest update to the Zelda franchise. While doing so, Nintendo also made certain to note Skyward Sword would lay the foundation for the story told in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The Club Nintendo year has finally come to a close and as has become tradition, Nintendo has revealed the latest bonus for members who reached gold and platinum status. As with previous years, gold members are able to grab a Nintendo calendar with unspecified art at this time, while platinum members have the choice of both the calendar and special set of commemorative pins. 25 collectible Mario pins contained in a special case can be redeemed as this year's special bonus. Both gold and platinum members must claim their rewards by July 31 or else they will forfeit their special gift. The product manager of Nintendo France has confirmed its 2012 release date.
Much to the chagrin of North American Wii fans, Nintendo of America neglected to announce release dates for some key titles published by Nintendo in Japan. Ahead of the show, however, Europe was given news that Xenoblade Chronicles would see release in the region, courtesy of Nintendo of Europe. In a surprise, informal announcement, The Last Story was confirmed for release in Europe in 2012 by Ludovic Amouroux, product manager of Nintendo France.
