Raven expresses Ben's feelings for next gen gaming!

I know I’ve been quiet lately. After putting up my game an eerie calm washed over me. I didn’t feel like I had much else to say, especially when it comes to all nuances related to being a “gamer”. Next generation? Eh, I’m surprisingly unenthusiastic about it all. However, I’m not trying to put myself on a pedestal by stating that. If you happen to be one of the people whom are hyper exuberant about what is to come, more power to you! I wish I had that sense of wonder left intact. If anything, I envy you!

My only resolution to keep up with the times will be getting a 2DS at some point. Nintendo has been rather good at catering to my tastes lately. It’ll be fun to play the newest SMT and I’m guessing GodEater 2 ends up on the 2DS sooner or later. Since Namco had a recent cross over event with GodEater characters, there’s a pretty good chance its’ sequel will be both on the Vita and 2DS/3DS.

I cancelled my gold membership on Xbox live recently just to save money. Hopefully those of you on my friend’s list won’t feel slighted. It wasn’t my intent to hurt feelings. I’ve merely been prioritizing on more things outside of gaming. (Being an adult blows!)

For the 1 ½ of you who are still curious, my rpg had a few revisions. They are as follows!

1. Ben’s “ghost house glitch” was remedied. Before you could walk on top of the outside walls due to wrongly assigned tileset variables.

2. As has already been stated, the rope glitch in the prison area is fixed. Now after taking the rope from Dwayne you can choose to not go down the rope right away without the whole event disappearing. (In other words, take your time! Kara’s cave isn’t going anywhere!)

3. Slight dialogue changes were made when encountering Dwayne the second time.

4. A few cosmetic tileset corrections were made just to make certain maps look nicer.

Probably not stuff worth re-downloading the whole game for but when something is yours you want to make it as close to perfect as you possibly can!

Next month I’m either getting Ninja Gaiden Razor’s Edge or FF: Duodecim & Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. I’ll be able to make a decision after certain facts come in. Anyway, wishing you all the best!

I can really say that everything will be bland or exciting for next gen gaming. There are good things just as bad things, so I will just wait for something to happen.

That's all we can really do! The first quarter of every new gen is always a bit lackluster so no surprise there. lol. It tends to build up momentum mid 2nd quarter. Wink

The only thing I'm looking forward to with this next gen is the chance to catch up on my back log, because I'm going to ignore it for a couple of years.  It's not really doing anything all that "new" or cool yet, so I can wait.

I let my LIVE membership lapse too.  I know what it's like.  It's all good.

That's my philosophy in a nutshell,Ceva. I usually bide my time until about half way into a new gaming generation before going for the bait. By then there's a decent library of games to choose from!

It's a good time to pick up a lot of games from this gen. There's lots of sales as retail is trying to get rid of old stock to make way for the new stuff.

I really like the new Killzone, but I'm not in a position to shell out so much money right now. I've got lots to do on PS3 still.

Admittedly the new Killzone footage was impressive! I actually watched the trailer you put up.

I'd be all over that if I could justify the expense. Maybe next year sometime.

BrokenH

Expenses indeed. I'm a lot more prudent with money myself these days!

I'll only be interested in the next-gen Xbox and PlayStation when they have enough good games to warrant a purchase of the consoles.  Maybe in a year or two they will.  That's how it was with the PS3 and 360 for me.

I hope you get a chance to read my blog! :)

I'm waiting for the same reasons,Cary. In other words, I want choices! I'll probably be swinging around to your blog pretty soon!

I think my biggest problem with the next-gen consoles is the sole fact that I'm extremely comfortable within the current gen consoles as of yet. I don't really see any necessity to upgrade, and I feel as if I have a lot of great games to find and explore on the current gen before I make the leap onto the next gen. Just my thoughts though...

Also; I cancelled my XBL a while ago. I've been so focused on my PS3 library that I wasn't even playing my 360 online anymore. it was wasting money bro!

Xbox live has nice features but yeah, it gobbles up alot of cash when you add up the monthly fees to a whole year. I also feel like there are a lot of good games this generation I haven't gotten around to yet.

I'm not enthusiastic about next gen either.  Now that I think about it, I'm usually not excited about the new consoles.  I have way too many old games to play to give most of the coming games a thought.

Beware of SMT4.  I'm getting so tired of playing this game.  I over 100 hrs in and I still hadn't beat it yet.  I'm too deep in to quit.  I feel like I'm playing Strange Journey again except in SJ I didn't spend hours lost.  Frown

Ah, I feel you,James! I know SMT purists consider the Persona games "SMT lite" but in many ways P3 and P4 seem better balanced. Aka, long but not too long and challenging yet not too challenging. As an adult it becomes more difficult to find a spare 100+ hours to sink into an rpg. 30-60 hours is about perfect for me.

I'm still so busy with current gen-games that I don't have time for next-gen. I've never had the new hotness in this regard so I don't see how I'll suffer if I don't once more.

I'm excited about next gen... but not excited enough to buy into it soon.  PRobably next year sometime.

I'm going to finish your game soon.  It has really reinvigorated my love of games and the power of them, to be honest.  I think it's great you did it.

A year is a good strategy. By then the "mark 2s" will be out the gate and there will not be as many bugs and defects,Matt.

The only next gen that I currently care about is the Wii U, but since that is already here it is technically not next gen.  In reality the biggest reason that I want a Wii U is for the multi platform games, and of course SM3DW....   I just want another console to play those games because I have little desire to support Microsoft at all anymore.

BrokenH

10/24/2013 at 07:35 PM

Microsoft hasn't impressed me either. Morally I know sony isn't much better but I do prefer what they're offering. Not to mention, Nintendo is still a champ! I will have a Wii U sooner than later.

transmet2033

Sony may be as morally bankrupt as Microsoft, but they do have one bright spot.  They have a bunch of exclusives, specifically the type that I want to play.  I really want Arkham Origins and am really tempted to pick it up for the Wii U, eventhough according to bitchy fans it is an incomplete game because it lacks multiplayer.

Who plays a Batman game for the multi-player? Certainly not I! Granted, there has been a co-op Batman game where you could be Batman & Robin simultaneously but as Batman games went it wasn't anything special, just a very standard beat em up.

I want a Wii-U for Xmas. Hope you're listening Santa.

It's cool,Pete. lol. I know we all have to work with limited time. Not to mention, gamer backlogs! Tongue Out

I hear you about lack of enthusiasm for the coming generation of consoles. The jump in graphics isn't significant enough to wow me and nothing else seems that exciting. I'm pretty happy with the current gen. Heck, I was happy with the GameCube lol

BrokenH

10/24/2013 at 07:32 PM

Graphics definitely aren't everything,Daft. My psp has gotten more exercise than my 360 lately. lol. I'm still putting hours into SF Alpha 3 Max & Growlanser: Wayfarer of time.

GeminiMan78

10/24/2013 at 10:36 AM

Yeah not all that excited yet either. If I make any upgrade it will be to a PS3 with a 500g HD. I running out of room and I have a feeling they might get a little cheaper after the PS4 drops.

BrokenH

10/24/2013 at 07:33 PM

I'll probably get a PS3 before I get a PS4. It has some really great exclusives so it's worth a gander. I really want to play The Last Of Us.

GeminiMan78

10/24/2013 at 10:57 PM

Yeah I have also been considering a 360 for it's exclusives, lol. But my hatred of all things microsoft sits on my shoulder and berates me for having such sacreligious thoughts. Tongue Out

BrokenH

Microsoft is hard to love. The company is like a mean pudgy-faced brat who gets his kicks by punching puppies and drowning kittens. lol. Still, I've had fun with my 360. It was definitely worth the investment!

I share your stance on the next generation. I'm just not feeling it. No tsure why but I guess I'm still put off by all the changes that were made on the fly.

Looking forward to your review. I'm still working on my ONline Pass watch posting for this game on the Wii U to ensure if it doesn't have an Online Pass.

Hope your kind to Tifa and company.
