Nothing political,all geekery!

So if anyone noticed I was gone, I’ve been doing a lot of illustrating! Some pieces I like more than others but I’ve been experimenting with my characters “doing stuff” or "being in story moments" as opposed to just standing around. I’ll be honest, I’m not great at “gritty realism”. Hell, I still struggle with anatomy sometimes! Do I think I’m getting better? Eh, maybe a little. There are still a lot of peeps at deviant art who put my creations to shame but that’s to be expected when a bunch of artsy fartsy types are gathered together in one centralized location!

One aspect of my work I kinda like is how crude my pictures look. You can tell I drew these, colored over them, and did the shading without using any fanciful high resolution image programs. Some might find my style to be “unrefined” but hey, that’s how I prefer it!

Gaming wise I’m still playing Birth by sleep. I completed Ventus’s story and I’m presently doing Terra’s. I’m saving Aqua’s for last because female characters are usually my favorites.

On my 360 I beat Dead Space 2 despite the insane difficulty spike during the last 3rd of the game where you not only fight necromorphs but also an invincible regenerating enemy that follows you everywhere! I felt as if I was trying to evade the friggin paparazzi, that‘s how hard it was!

Anyway, despite the finicky quick time events and unexpected difficulty spikes I really enjoyed Dead Space 2. I’m contemplating getting DS3 but everyone seems to agree it’s the least scary and has the worst story. It seems to be the “RE 6” of its’ own franchise. Not that’s bad (I enjoyed RE 6) but I’m not sure if I want to go through another very nice to look at but very “by the numbers” 3rd person shooter.

ha, that top thing's tongue looks like that Guatamalan insanity pepper Homer ate on the Simpsons!

Yeah I like unrefined art too, it's more handmade, and that's why a lot of my music kind of has that lo-fi aesthetic to it.  It just seems more human.  I know some people just think that's amateur, but to me it's better.

Glad to hear from you!

Thanks,Matt. I've wanted to be around more but my grand-mother recently passed and I've been suffering both from allergies and the south's typical unforgiving heat-wave! Something I drew up made you think of The Simpsons? I consider that flattery of the highest order!

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother.  I lost my last grandmother about four years ago.  It's rough.

I can relate my friend. We were not even as close as we used to be the last few years of her life but so many people in my family have died I kinda felt it in the pit of my stomach,y'know?

I wish you would draw more Angi and Brandy.  I like them.

You are good at drawing scary monsters, too.

Aqua is awesome.

The lowest illustration actually is Angi,Cary. Thought you would have recognized her trademark uniform.  Wink

Oh I know, I saw it.  I just like that character and wish you'd draw more.

New blog up, by the way.

I will say that installing dead space 2 on my 360 was the best decision of my life.  I saw more than a handful of points where the game loaded even with it installed and shuddered to think of how long the load times would have been if the game was reading off the disc.  This also made running from the regenerator thingy a lot easier.

The gall of that bastard....he/it would come after Issac even as other necromorphs were spilling in too! My most unfair moment in gaming history! I had to keep dismembering it and using stasis to slow it down. The last boss battle was cake compared to evading that thing! Undecided

I noticed you were gone and missed you immensely. I cried every night at your absence, and drowned myself in alcohol, drugs, and rubber women to ease the pain. I love you man, we could have been together, think about it. You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about me. I hope your conscience eats at you and you can't breathe without me. See Slim... Shut up bitch I'm trying to talk...

Sorry, I kind of got carried away with Eminem lyrics... Anyway, good to see you're still alive and good. In my opinion none of the Dead Space games are really scary. They're great games, but I wouldn't say they give me nightmares or anything. I enjoyed 3 quite a lot. There are moments where it feels like Gears of War or Uncharted, but most of the time it still feels like Dead Space. The Weapon customisation is awesome, as are the sections where you're floating in space.

I loved it anyway... I mean, apart from the fucking terrible Autosave system that kept putting me back at the start of a mission until I eventually ragequit and never touched the game again, but I think that's been patched now.

Wow,you soaked your pain in sex dolls,heroin needles,and jello-shots too,Blake? Yet more proof we're destined soul-mates!

I apologize for being more sporadic with visits. Between my sex trafficking and murder sprees it's been difficult to drop in. But I thought about you baby, especially when beating meat! I mean uh, beating the people who didn't give me my money!

Thanks for your coverage on Dead Space 3. The weapon customization would probably suck me off...er, suck me in! (Freudian slips everywhere!)

It's good to see you're back, and awesome to see you brought more art.  Nice.

I've only played the first Dead Space.  I meant to play the second one too, but I never got around to it.  Reading about what you went through has left me a bit intimidated...

Birth By Sleep was awesome.  I'm glad you're enjoying it.  I saved Aqua for last as well.  Her design was very cool.

Dead Space 2 has a sporadic difficulty, ceva. I felt as if the first game had a more graceful curb that gradually ramped up the tension while still being fair. Still, it's not "unwinnable" just kind of hair pulling in parts.

Yeah, I like Aqua's design too!

Birth by Sleep, Terra's voice actor is pretty bad; other than that it my second favorite kingdom hearts game.

Dead Space 2, the first game was alright but I wasn't interested in playing the second game. I heard the last boss kind of breaks the game though in difficulty.

Fighting "phantom Nicole" and "The Marker" is not so bad. It's just getting there that's the hassle! That and you have to do one more difficult qte before the boss battle but luckily there's a check point right before it.

As for Birth By Sleep? I love it! It has flaws (like empty environments) but I find the gameplay and story telling to be very good. (If not a bit resemblant of Star Wars)

I'm still wondering if they'll release a Dead Space Trilogy later on. I didn't bother with the series when 2 and 3 were released with EA's accursed Online pass system (and as you can tell the gameplay suffered bacause of it) but now that Online pass with EA is dead I'm thinking about giving it a try this fall.

Really want to try out the Dead Space games at some point. I'm beginning to thing that if I ever actually have access to all the games I wish I could, I'd end up with a never-ending backlog. Which wouldn't be all that terrible, really.
