Random update 10-17-13

I heard about Retro Gamer on the Allgengamers podcast where they had Mike Kennedy on talking about GameGavel.com. He says "spread the word if you believe in print media". Unfortunately, I'm not sure I do anymore. It kinda sucks. The internet has really made it hard for freelance writers and good publications like this to make a buck.

I used to love my magazines up until only a few years ago and then one by one they got cancelled. Now I get all my info from podcasts and websites like this one. I wish I could get psyched for it, but I can't. A web site yes, but paper thingy in my mail box, no.

Do We Really Need Everything In HD?

I got God of War HD Collection, but I had problems with it and I traded it in. I have the originals, but I might get it again and see if they fixed the problems with it. My game files kept getting corrupted so I couldn't continue where I left off. I do like even small improvements to my very favorite games. It's another excuse to play them again on a new system.

The Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD collection is good for me because I never had those games on PS2 and now they're hard to find or expensive.

Yea, both of those purchases are not just for one game really. That's $1000 to last me five years or more of many games and movies.

I think it's been four or five years since I bought a 32" TV that gets up to 1080i and it's been five years since my last console purchase. The time is coming soon for both I think.

I really want to play Borderlands 2. I did a complete achievement run of the first game. I still have the last bit of DLC to do before I dig in to the second game.

I keep thinking all that extra power is just to handle all the other media that's bleeding into the game experience. Online play, game DVR, internet, all that other stuff. You'd think they could just focus on games, but everyone wants to have all their media right there for instant gratification and insane multitasking. I have to say though, being able to bring up a walkthrough online while I'm playing a game is a cool idea.

Cool. I have a Sony store in my Mall too. It wasn't listed on http://experienceplaystation.com/ but I'll go down there sometime and see.

No, but I remember the van appearing at my Gamestop years ago, so maybe that'll happen again. Also, I'm near one of the biggest Malls in the world, so it might go there. There's info of The One Tour here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/onetour . I noticed one truck in Fort Worth, Texas from the Twitter feed, but no listings yet by city.

The new games make me think I should have a better TV to really take advantage of the graphical improvements. But that means probably $1000 just to play Killzone: Shadowfall (42" HDTV $500, PS4/Killzone bundle $500). Is any one game really worth $1000?

Cool. The Xbox One is also making the rounds in vans. I remember that happening for 360 as well.

Cool. They should give you more damage than just 2 though. What if you have serious marital arts skills? You should do a lot more damage and even be able to throw enemies.
