What I've Been Playing

Posted on 04/27/2019 at 08:56 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I actually replayed the first part of FF7 on my PlayStation Classic recently (which I just wrote a blog about).  It's not as bad as I remember, which is good.  I have respect for FF7 for trying new things, but unfortunately, it was the new things that I didn't like that they decided to focus on in future installments, so FF7 was also the turning point for me not liking FF games anymore either.  Oh well, at least there's always FF9.

That would be kind of funny if the music sped up when you sped things up as well.  Then it would've been like the credits to the old Benny Hill show.

Can you guess who my favorite FF7 characters are?

It's Super Mario Odyssey, but I like Super Mario Hat better as it's easier to spell.

Enjoy Death, Asshole! - Vice City

GTA games aren't my cup of tea, but there is something about Vice City that did interest me and that was the 80's setting.  I hear they used a large soundtrack from the 80's, and 80's music is one of my guilty pleasures.

Thanks for reading and commenting!  And to answer your question, I think the chocolate egg does have raised artwork of Mario on it.  Kind of reminds me of Han Solo in carbonite.  I just didn't open it because then I'd have to eat it all, and that's just too much chocolate to eat in one setting!

Funky Ninja Beatz - Revenge of Shinobi

I never really got into Shinobi games.  They were pretty hard.  I did like that one of them had a dog who would help you.  And the music in one of the Genesis games was done by Yuzo Koshiro.  Shinobi and Rolling Thunder seemed to kind of rip off one another, but then, SEGA and Namco did that a lot back then in arcades.

Yeah if you liked LEGO Worlds, you might like the LEGO Movie 2 game.

Stealth Grandpa - Metal Gear Solid 4

My friend rented the NES Metal Gear games a couple of times.  The stealth gameplay was new at the time, but not my cup of tea.  I did get Metal Gear Solid 3 when it went down in price on the PS2, though.  Why?  Because it had an Ape Escape mini game in it!

Only the Strongest - Roadblasters

Have you seen the Wreck it Ralph movie? The Roadblasters machine plays a pivotal part in the plot, in a way.

I really liked the first Wreck it Ralph movie.  So much so that Ralph himself made it to a slot in my top five favorite Disney characters list, right alongside Chip N Dale, Scrooge McDuck, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and Sorcerer Mickey.

Only the Strongest - Roadblasters

I don't know if I would say Roadblasters is better than Spy Hunter.  I like them both about the same.  Roadblasters is definitely better than the arcade Spy Hunter 2 sequel, though.   My brother Jeff LOVES Spy Hunter.  When he was only five, he would play it on one of my Midway collections for what seemed like hours!

I remember playing Roadblasters a lot in arcades because it seemed to be everywhere for a while.  I remember the sit down cabinet for it because it was unusually narrow.  I think it's cool that Roadblasters was in the Wreck It Ralph movie.
